GM issues another recall involving 1.5 mil vehicles.

Quote:
The new set of recalls involves the 2009-2014 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana to get reworked instrument panel material to meet compliance for unbelted passengers; 2013 and some 2014 Cadillac XTS models to be repaired to prevent possible brake booster corrosion that may result in overheating; and selected model year Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia, Chevrolet Traverse and Saturn Outlook vehicles to repair the wiring harness of seat-mounted side airbags.
The latest exercise comes as a result of CEO Mary Barra’s request for a comprehensive internal safety review following the ignition switch recall. The automaker says it expects to incur a cost of approximately US$300 million in the first quarter, primarily for the cost of the repairs for the three safety actions and the previously announced ignition switch recall.

GM halts production of Cruze 1.4 Turbo Petrol variants

This just came in.

Quote:
General Motors Co. GM +1.33% , already juggling an ignition switch recall, has now halted sales of some 2013 and 2014 model year Chevrolet Cruze compact cars, although the auto maker won't say why.

Chevrolet dealers received a stop-delivery via email Thursday advising them to halt sales of Cruze models with 1.4-turbo engines, according to a copy of the notice viewed by The Wall Street Journal. A reason for the notice wasn't provided.

"This is something we don't see every day," said one dealer who asked not to be identified since he shared the internal document. "To not be given a reason must mean GM has spotted an issue and is still trying to get its arms around it."

Wonder where this leaves GM's lofty claims of replacing Corolla as the most-selling car in the US and GM's credibility.
