Lamborghini , Bentley and BMW involved in recalls.

An issue involving carbon-ceramic brakes has prompted Lamborghini and Bentley to recall certain models so equipped. The problem, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, revolves around the stainless steel screws that secure the brake rotors, which are prone to corrosion when exposed to salty conditions.

The recall affects 2007-2009 Lamborghini Gallardo coupes and Spyders, 2006-2010 Murcielago coupes and Roadsters and 2007-2011 Bentley Continental GTs,GTCs and Flying Spurs. All in all, some 1,136 vehicles are subject to the recall in the United States, including 263 Gallardos, 404 Murcielagos and 469 Continentals.

BMW recalls 176,000 4-cylinder vehicles to fix power brakes.

The vehicles, because of insufficient lubrication to a vacuum pump, can lose the power assistance in braking. The driver can still stop the car in the event of a loss of power braking, but it will take more force on the brake pedal

The recall covers the 2012-14 320i, 328i, 320i xDrive and 328i xDrive sedans, as well as the 2014 328i xDrive Sports Wagon; 2012 and 2013 528i and 528i xDrive sedans; 2013-14 X1 sDrive28i and X1 xDrive28i vehicles; and 2012-14 X4 sDrive28i roadsters

BMW said 76,191 of the vehicles are in the United States, about 25,000 in China, 9,376 in Canada, 6,841 in Germany, 2,738 in Mexico and the rest in other countries.

The halfshafts, which deliver power from the engine in a front-wheel-drive car, can fail due to a supplier error on part of the shaft's connecting tube, resulting the car coasting to a stop with the engine running although steering & braking will not be affected. However, if the car is parked on a hill, the vehicle could roll if the parking brake is not applied.

1.JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2014 - 92k Recalled

SUMMARY

Chrysler Group, LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles manufactured January 8, 2013, through August 20, 2013. Due to a disruption of computer communications and loose alternator ground wires, the affected vehicles may experience random illumination of multiple instrument cluster warning lights, loss of cluster illumination and loss of anti-lock brake system (ABS) and electronic stability control (ESC) function. Because of these conditions, the vehicles fail to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 101, "Controls and Displays," and No. 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems."

CONSEQUENCE

A loss of ABS and ESC function reduces the driver's ability to control the vehicle. Drivers would not be warned of brake system failures or any other failures which would be illuminated on the dashboard display. Either condition increases the risk of a crash.

2. 2013, 2014 Toyota Tacoma Pickups Recalled Over Engine Valve Springs

Toyota will conduct a voluntary safety recall for about 4,000 Tacoma pickup trucks built for the 2013 and 2014 model years, the Japanese automaker announced today.

The recall affects only the Tacomas that were ordered with the standard 2.7-liter four-cylinder engines, which may have defective valve springs “that could develop cracks and break over time due to improper maintenance of manufacturing equipment used to make the part.”

Chrysler recalls 1.2 million pickup RAM trucks!

Chrysler has announced that it will issue three separate recalls that will cover as many as 1.2 million Ram pickup trucks for "steering-system tie rods that may have been misaligned during assembly or steering-system service." The vast majority of these trucks were sold in the United States, though some trucks in Mexico, Canada or overseas will be called in, as well.

The largest of the three recalls covers an estimated 842,400 model-year 2003-2008 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks. Two smaller campaigns will bring 294,000 model-year 2008-2012 Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups, chassis cabs and 2008 Ram 1500 4x4 Mega Cabs; plus 43,500 model-year 2008-2012 Ram 4500 and 5500 4x4 chassis cabs into the dealer to be checked and repaired if necessary

Hyundai is expanding a recall reported on a few weeks back regarding some 2009 to 2012 Genesis Sedans.
Now, the recall has grown, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, with Hyundai asking the owners of 43,500 affected vehicles to report in for service

BMW Recalls Several Bikes in Canada.

First off, it's the Canadian recall campaign number 2013380, which is aimed at (so far) 2431 bikes, namely 2006-2009 BMW F800S and BMW F800ST. Some of these bikes may have installed an incorrectly manufactured rear wheel bearing which might wear excessively fast.

The second BMW recall campaign has the number 2013369, and it targets at least 283 2011-2012 BMW K1600GT and K1600 GTL bikes. These machines may see an engine throttle valve malfunctioning due to a control software problem.

Some 640,000 cars are being recalled in China, where VW produces cars for the local market, as well as selling imports.

2013-2014 Chevrolet Malibu Recalled Over Fire Risk, HVAC Issues.

2013 Malibu models equipped with eight-way power front seats are being recalled because the wiring harness could wear against the seat frame. This means the circuit could short out, which may result in "an open circuit breaker, unintended movement of the seat, sparking, flickering lights, melted wiring, smoke, or a fire in an unattended vehicle".

The automaker knows of two fires that broke out in unattended vehicles, but says no crashes or injuries have been reported. The recall affects 14,930 vehicles, of which 13 were sold in Canada and seven in Mexico.

Moving over to the 2014 Malibu, the control for the HVAC system (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning) may not work properly, which could prevent drivers from defrosting the windshield. This problem affects 44,406 sedans - most sold in the US, 1,034 in Canada and 676 in Mexico.

2013 Ford Escape Recalled Over Fire Risk... Again!

They bring the total number of recalls of the 2013 Escape to seven, five of which involve fire risks on models equipped with a 1.6-liter engine

Ford Motor Co. is getting ready for yet another Escape recall over fire concerns. The same vehicle forced the automaker to issue another recall in 2012 and pay a $17.35 million fine to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) earlier this year.

Ford is now recalling certain 2013 model year Escapes manufactured from October 5, 2011, through July 11, 2012, and fitted with a 1.6-liter engine. About 9,469 vehicles may have been shipped with an incorrectly installed fuel line that could chafe and leak fuel.

A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may result in a fire.

Separately, Ford said today that it is recalling 7,329 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid cars to reprogram the powertrain control module. It said a manufacturing error in a sensor could cause the module to incorrectly think the car is in neutral and allow the transmission to shift out of park without the brake pedal applied. This could cause the vehicle to move unexpectedly and violates government regulations regarding theft protection and rollaway prevention.

Porsche is recalling the 2013 and 2014 model year Cayenne due to a faulty fuel gauge recall that includes the entire US range, with 207 units affected.

The defective fuel gauge may cause the driver to be unaware of the actual fuel level in the tank. This, of course, can lead to the vehicle running out of juice and stalling, thus increasing the risk of a crash.
