Re: The Global *Recalls* Thread

Maserati is recalling in US 7,438 2005-08 Quattroporte, 2008 GranTurismo & 2008 Alfa Romeo 8C coupes for rusting suspension parts. The left & right rear tie rods, which set the wheel toe alignment, may not have enough rustproofing material and can eventually corrode, leading to a noisy suspension & loss of driver control.

The NHTSA is investigating 2003-2004 Honda Odyssey models alleging that their front airbags deployed without warning or a crash, after receipt of 41 complaints regarding illuminating air bag warning lights.

As many as 320,000 vehicles may be affected.

In addition to the above, GM has sent to the agency more than 1,100 reports of brake light malfunctions on the 2005-2008 Pontiac G6. According to the complaints, the light operation was reversed; the brake lights illuminated when the brake pedal wasn't depressed & switched back off when the pedal was depressed. In other complaints, some G6 models were difficult to shift from the park position & the cruise control system did not function properly.

About 551,511 cars may be affected.

Toyota is recalling 342000 2004-11 Tacoma pickups for loose seatbelts, caused by screws attaching the pre-tensioners to the driver & front passenger seatbelt mechanisms mounted on the rear doors loosening over time if those doors "are repeatedly and forcefully" closed. The pre-tensioners, which cinch the seatbelt tight when the vehicle senses an impact, could then detach & affect the mechanism's performance.

Hyundai recalls 239,000 Sonata, Azera models.

Quote:
Hyundai says salt can corrode the rear suspension crossmember, which is part of the vehicle's frame. In advanced cases, the crossmember could detach from the control arms that lead to the wheels, which could affect wheel alignment and increase the risk of a crash.
The recall affects 215,000 Sonata midsize sedans from the 2006 to 2010 model years and 24,000 Azera full-size sedans from 2006 to 2011.

Cheers!

Hyundai, Kia recall US vehicles.

Quote:
In two other recalls also announced on Wednesday, about 20,300 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport model year 2013 and 9,345 Kia Motors Corp model year 2014 Sorrento crossover vehicles were recalled due to possible problems with the right front axle.

In the corrosion issue, it was found that road salt used in cold-weather states can lead to rust on the steel on the underside of the vehicles, which can lead to misaligned real wheels,
The recalls affecting Santa Fe and Sorento vehicles impact only those with front-wheel drive and 2.4-liter engines.
The right front axle driveshaft may develop a crack, which could cause a separation of the shaft, which could lead to a crash.

Chrysler recalling Fiat 500e EV to fix bolts.

Chrysler Group said it is recalling more than 270 , 2013 Fiat 500e battery-electric vehicles to replace bolts that secure the vehicles’ half shafts
The issue is unrelated to the 500e’s electric power train, Chrysler said. Half shafts transfer torque from a vehicle’s gearbox to its wheels.
An investigation was launched after Chrysler learned a customer’s vehicle exhibited power loss. Engineers discovered two assembly steps had not been properly completed; creating a condition that could lead to half shaft separation.

KIA recalls SUV Sorento - Front axle can fail

Kia has announced a recall on the 2014 Sorento due to an issue that could lead to a broken right front driveshaft on certain models.
Only models equipped with the 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder engine and front-wheel drive are affected by the campaign.

Quote:
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that Sorento models built between January 7 through March 12 of this year may experience broken axle shafts that could lead to loss of power or cause the vehicle to roll if parked. A total of close to 9,700 units are being recalled, but that number is closer to 9,300 for customers in the US.

Re: The Global *Recalls* Thread

NHTSA is investigating around 146000 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs after 3 complaints about fires in the headliner of the SUV near the passenger-side sun visor.

In all of these complaints drivers smelt something burning & saw smoke coming from the headliner. Lowering the windows in an effort to clear the smoke only fanned the flames. The three fires had to be extinguished because they kept burning even after the car was turned off. In one case, the fire shattered the sunroof, & in another the burning visor fell onto the passenger seat and set the seat on fire .

Re: The Global *Recalls* Thread

Toyota is recalling about 369,000 cars all over the world to fix problems that can cause the vehicles to shut down while driving.

These include 5 models from 2006-2011 years, & the details are as under:

1. The 2006-2010 Toyota Highlander Hybrid & 2006-2008 Lexus RX 400h SUVs have faulty soldering that can cause the hybrid powertrain components to overheat, forcing the vehicle into a "limp home" mode or completely cut power while driving.
The recall expands on an earlier recall in Jun-11, which covered 82,273 cars in the U.S. for similar inverter failures due to cracked or missing soldering.

2. The 2006-2011 Lexus IS 350, 2010-2011 IS 350C & 2007-2011 GS 350, have engine parts that can come loose, thereby causing the cars to stall while driving.
