Daimler recalls 3,500 Mercedes Citan vans over faulty airbags.
German automaker Daimler is recalling 3,500 Mercedes-Benz Citan vans in Europe because of faulty airbags.

A company spokesman said on Monday that window airbags will be replaced in the box-type Citan, which recently scored only three out of five stars in an NCAP crash test survey.

"The (crash test) result is of course completely unsatisfactory," said Zetsche, who also heads the Mercedes-Benz luxury cars division, in an interview with German newspaper WAZ last week. "We will of course have to look into this," he added.

The Citan small delivery van is a derivative of the Kangoo from French manufacturer Renault (RENA.PA), which formed an alliance with Daimler in 2010 to cooperate on commercial vehicles, small cars and powertrains.

Quote:
VW is recalling about 91,000 cars in Japan, a spokesman for the company said, citing potential gearbox problems that have already caused a recall in China.

Re: The Global *Recalls* Thread

VW group recalls VW Up!, Skoda Citigo, Seat Mii for faulty airbag control.

Quote:
Cars manufactured between January to March of this year are affected. The problem is with the airbag control unit. A company spokesperson said that the “airbag control units were configured incorrectly” and that the side impact sensors for the side airbags would also have a fault.
As a result, should there be an accident triggering the airbags, there could be a possible delay in their operation, or there could be a complete failure itself. This is not isolated to the airbags, as the seat belt pretensioners could fail to provide the necessary pretension as well.
VW say that they will update the software of the control unit to solve the problem. The total time taken for the fix is estimated at 30 minutes. In all, 30,296 units of the Up!, 8,437 units of the Skoda Citigo.

Cheers!

Re: The Global *Recalls* Thread

Now, the NHTSA is investigating hrysler, Ford & Mazda vehicles for problems involving loss of steering, engine stalls & door latches. These may or may not lead to recalls.

The agency is investigating 2006 Chrysler 300C, Dodge Charger & Dodge Magnum models with V8 engines for stalling while driving after refueling. It has received 54 complaints, with more than half of the same in past month. Almost 2 lac vehicles may be affected because of the issue.

NHTSA is also investigating 2009 Mazda6 sedans after few drivers complained that ehicle doors were not closing properly. This may affect 40k cars.

NHTSA is also looking at steering failures on 2008 Ford F-250 & F-350 pickup trucks after few owners complained that their vehicles had problems with the steering gear box & caused them to lose control. The number of vehicles involved in this investigation is 350,000.

Also involved in above investigation are 2005-2008 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor cars, after the agency received 15 reports of steering loss due to separation of the upper & lower steering shafts, including on civilian models & the Mercury Grand Marquis.

Quote:
Subaru is recalling certain model year 2013 Outback and Legacy vehicles manufactured from February 15, 2012, through June 15, 2012. In the affected vehicles, the inner and outer shafts of the steering column assembly may become disengaged from one another.
CONSEQUENCE:
If the shafts become disengaged, the driver would lose the ability to steer the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Rolls-Royce recalls more cars in Australia over fuel odour.

The $645,000 Ghost limousine is being recalled this time simply because customers may notice the smell of fuel when approaching their vehicles.
''Australia seems to be at the moment the only country around the world to make this recall on a safety basis. It’s a minor fuel vapour venting issue. As fuel is naturally vented from the fuel tank when not in use it goes through a carbon filter … which removes any odours.

Quote:
'The software is not properly working. That means that you could when approaching your car smell fuel.
'We're are convinced this is not a safety issue because fuel vapours occur on any car it's just that you don't smell them (on ours).

GM is recalling 26,852 Buicks LaCrosse & Cadillac SRX, which may shift out of manual mode unexpectedly, because of a glitch in the transmission software that could place the car in the wrong gear.

Quote:
GM said it first noticed the problem in January on a 2014 SRX belonging to its engineering team and found that the transmission was shifting into sport mode rather than holding the desired gear in manual mode.

Re: Nissan to recall Micra - possible mechanical glitch in direct injection engines

On a related note, the Nissan India recall for replacing TMC's (Tandem Master Cylinder's) , on their vehicles , logically should cover Renault Pulse's and Scala's too , as aggregates are identical between the two models.

Waiting for a "Renault recall" now !
