Mitsubishi recalls some of its 2012 EV's!

Quote:
Mitsubishi Motors Corp. is recalling a small number of its all-electric cars in the United States due to the possibility that the front and side air bag systems may be deactivated
Quote:
The Japanese automaker is recalling 261 of its 2012 model i-MiEV subcompact hatchbacks because an incompatibility between the air bag sensors and the self-diagnostic software may cause the side and curtain air bags not to deploy, or the front air bags to deploy late in a crash, according to documents filed with U.S. safety regulators.

Mercedes Benz is recalling some 2011 G-Class SUV's because of faulty interior trim.

Quote:
Only 189 2011 G550 and G55 AMG vehicles are potentially affected, but the issue is fairly serious. In the event of a passenger airbag deployment, a molding strip on the airbag cover flap could dislodge and "become a projectile in the passenger compartment."

Mercedes will be notifying owners in September, and dealers will fix the trim strip, gratis.

GM to recall 2012 Chevrolet Sonic for windshield washers.

Quote:
General Motors is recalling 44,668 2012 Chevrolet Sonics to check for and correct faulty windshield washers, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Friday in an official government filing.
GM said the windshield wiper washer hose on Sonics made from May 5, 2011, through February 24, 2012, could separate from the washer fluid reservoir.
A lack of washer fluid could impede the driver's view, increasing the risk of a crash, NHTSA said. GM expects to begin notifying customers on Sept. 7.

2013 Ford Escape recalled for the THIRD, again for Fire risk!

Quote:
As if the previous two recalls weren't bad enough, the brand new 2013 Ford Escape is under fire yet again for, well, fire.
Quote:
7,600 Escape models – 6,150 of which are in the United States – equipped with the 1.6-liter EcoBoost inline four-cylinder engine are being recalled due to a faulty cup plug in the engine cylinder head. In the event this cup dislodges, coolant could rapidly leak and create what The Detroit News calls a "combustible glycol concentration" that can catch fire near hot engine components.
Quote:
The vehicles in question were built between October 5, 2011 and August 31, 2012.
Ford has not received any reports of fires from customers, though one Escape reportedly caught fire at a dealership in Tennessee

2012 Ford Edge Recalled for EcoBoost Fuel Line Damper.

Following a series of embarrassing recalls on its new 2013 Escape compact SUV with the 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine, Ford now has to deal with a recall on its 2012 Edge midsize crossover equipped with the 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine.

The Problem: The fuel line pulse damper housing could crack due to an improper manufacturing process. The cracked damper could result in fuel leakage, fuel odor, and could result in an engine compartment fire

The Fix: Owners will be notified, and dealers will replace the defective part free of charge. The recall campaign will begin on September 24, 2012. Owners of the affected vehicles can call Ford at 866-436-7332, or NHTSA’s Vehicle Safety Hotlline at 888-327-4236

Number of Units Affected: 5499 2012 Ford Edge EcoBoost models manufactured from September 2, 2010 through October 31, 2011

Re: The Global *Recalls* Thread

Vehicle Make / Model: Model Year(s):
CHEVROLET / SONIC 2013

Component: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:TURN SIGNAL

Potential Number of Units Affected: 4,716
Summary:
General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013 Chevrolet Sonic vehicles manufactured from May 29, 2012, through August 29, 2012. When a turn signal lamp fails to operate, the Body Control Module (BCM) in these vehicles does not detect this condition and will not indicate the condition to the driver. Thus, These vehicles fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Consequence:
If the driver is not aware that the turn signal is not functioning and does not have the light repaired, other drivers may not be alerted that the vehicle is turning, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy:
GM will notify owners, and dealers will reprogram the BCM and the vehicle's key fobs, free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin on October 3, 2012.

2012 Nissan Frontier, Pathfinder, Xterra 2WD

The Problem: Nissan is recalling 2012 Frontier, Pathfinder, and Xterra two-wheel drive vehicles manufactured from June 19, 2012, through July 12, 2012. These vehicles may have been equipped with front wheel hubs that may not meet the design hardness specifications. The wheel hub was manufactured below hardness specification, and may wear prematurely and crack.

Consequence: Vehicles with faulty hubs may fail, possibly resulting in a crash. If the vehicle is driven in this condition, the wheel hub may break, possibly resulting in a vehicle crash.

The Fix: Nissan will notify owners, and dealers will replaced the left and right side front wheel hub assemblies free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin on, or about October 8, 2012. Owners may contact Nissan Customer Service at 1-800-647-7261, or NHTSA’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236.

Number of Units Affected: 2417 Nissan Frontier, Pathfinder and Xterra 2WD models built from June 19, 2012, through July 12, 2012

Honda Recalls 489,000 CR-V Crossovers for Fire Risk .

Honda Motror Co. is recalling about 489,000 CR-V crossovers in the U.S., Europe and Africa, from the 2002 to 2006 model years because an electrical switch in the driver's side door could melt and cause a fire.

Honda said rain or other liquids could enter through a driver's open window and damage the master power switch on the door. If that happens, the switch could overheat and melt, causing a fire

No injuries or crashes have been reported related to the problem, but five fires have been reported—four in the U.S. and one in England—in which the switch and the cover around it overheated, caught fire and melted, Ms. Ando said.

2012 has been pretty bad for Hond as far as recall was concerned. First it was Civic, then pilot, lately Accord and now CRV.

The water seepage is expected from the door panel which is normal says one of the dealer which could be the source of fire. See the related link.

Mercedes to recall 2013 SL class over ac issue

Quote:
Summary:
Mercedes-Benz is recalling certain model year 2013 SL-Class vehicles manufactured from December 19, 2011, through May 31, 2012 originally equipped with R1234yf refrigerant. Daimler AG (DAG), the parent company of Mercedes-Benz, conducted product testing of a vehicle, not sold in the US, but equipped with the same refrigerant. According to Mercedes-Benz, the testing was designed to replicate worst-case conditions expected in a severe frontal crash that would cause a rupture of the air conditioner refrigerant line. A rupture of a refrigerant line will result in a gaseous mixture of refrigerant being released into the engine compartment.

Consequence:
The testing conducted by DAG determined that the escaping R1234yf refrigerant may ignite under specific conditions. The resulting fire could spread to additional combustible materials
Cheers!
