One section was completely dedicated to modified cars.

Many of the modifiers used CF excessively. Some of these mods looked good.

As we come towards the end of the cars section, here are some pictures of the chinese cars from BYD. In the photos you will see Bivin & me giving these car the treatment they deserve.

The S8 was a combination of many cars mainly copied from the Merc as you can see from the front and side. The rear was a copy of the volkswagen EOS convertible. And guess what? The foldable roof was left open half way a-la the the EOS displayed at the show. Heights of copying!!!






Then the F3 AT. It is a copy of the older gen Toyota Corolla inside & outside. Have a look.





They even had an R version of the F3 which was nothing but a hatchback.

Now we come to the grand finale of this event. 2 cars which I and I'm sure many others were looking forward to see in flesh. Or should I say 'Metal'.

The Chevy Stingray is seriously the star of the show. I would surelye want to see this Transformers car in real! Thanks for the pictures wheeler. Since someone had already put up the whole gallery of pictures of the Dubai Auto Show on Flickr, I think that is the reason no one has commented on your pics yet.

Nice pics dude but that attitude towards Chinese Wheels is not cool.

Picture this an Indian car like say the Nano is on display at the Earls Court motor show and the British do what you guys were doing there how would you feel ??

This is an internationally accessable forum so those comments and actions are in poor taste.

Fantastic pictures of the show wheeler. You seem to have had a gala time. I was a regular at the Dubai Motor Shows when I lived in Dubai way back in the 80s. In those days we had cars like the Countach, the F40, Testarossa etc. on display

Wasif, I understand what you are saying, but if you look at the thread on Chinese replicas, you will find many comments which would evoke the same kind of emotions. The pictures I have posted would basically be an expression of the smiley '' but the difference is that, at that point of time, I had the car in front of me and so I used the opportunity.

A request to the mods: If you feel that the pictures should not be here, please do delete them.

Thanks Dippy. The show was nice but not to the extent of the last show. There were many brands missing like Dodge, Jeep, Chrysler, Lambo, Volvo, Honda(seriously ) to name a few.

I used to live in Fujairah at that time but since I was not a car nut then, I never went for any of the shows. Also, none of my friends were car freaks so never had any company. But now, I wish I could go back in time and attend every one of those shows. If you have pictures, please do post them. I'm sure it will be a treat for everyone.
