Awesome.. rather awful

Well somebody took a video of that crash man. That is amazing. I guess he just saw the car and start shooting it and he didn't even know it was a Veyron!!

Guys, on a serious note, instead of ridiculing the owner let's first try to understand the fact that it could happen to anyone, I mean the sight of an exotic/supercar triggers an adrenalin rush & we as humans(especially petrolheads) tend to easily get carried away. And getting to own/drive one means letting loose primal-instincts.
Let us learn from someone else's experinence & remember the age old, ever-relevant classic cliche-"with great power comes great resonsibility".

Most of all I'm happy no one was injured. Vehicles can be replaced.

Here are some photos of a Bugatti Veyron which ended up ditched in a salt-water lake in the environs of Galveston, Texas just a few days ago.
WCF previously ran a video of the crashed Bugatti (which has since been pulled by its copyright owner) and at that time the proprietor of the video clip had said, rather strangely, that "this is the third or fourth Veyron crashed in the area." It is difficult to concede to the likelyhood of such a string of crashes occuring in one small corner of Texas, given that there are only about 200 units of the Veyron in circulation right now and that it's only been in production since 2005.

In any case, a $2 million dollar car is not something to so easily write-off, insurance-wise. And how this Veyron will come to be restored and perhaps once again be appraised and sold is an issue that will stay with the vehicle for the entirety of its life. Dipping a car, any car, in salt-water is just about the most damaging thing one can do. Corrosion will likely affect the engine and drivetrain work but, most insideously, may plague the electronics of this very sophisticated machine for years on end.

We await word on what the car docs can do to fix her up.

Source & more pictures available from the good folks over at Jalopnik.

The pelican must be the hero amongst his flock to have sunk a mighty buggati. . This particular bird deserves a place in the history books for the costliest damange caused by any avian so far.

The driver of the bugatti must have seen the pelican dive into the lake for fish and he too must have tried the same.

Unbelievable. I've seen the video N times and couldn't spot the pelican... its like "its a bird, its a car, its a Veyron in a lake!!

Didn't all the Veyron crashes involve someone other than the owner driving it? Is that a point to note for all Veyron owners.

Well birds have caused plane crashes... so that would probably be 100times more expensive than a Veyron Sorry couldn't resist.

Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the drive the attention it deserves, you know the result now

I read about this. What apparently happened is , a crane(bird) flew just across the car and the driver seeing this got panicked and veered right to avoid it and then ended up in the lake. He could have simply just hit the crane and the damage would have been only to the windshield but cant blame the driver.
It would have been more of a reflex action.

Bugatti Veyron Lake Crash

@ MODS: I don't know if it has been posted earlier, didn't find any thread regarding this though

LA MARQUE — Police on Friday identified a Lufkin man who accidentally drove a $2 million Bugatti Veyron, a rare automobile that is perhaps the world’s fastest, into a saltwater lagoon.

Andy Lee House, 34, owner of Performance Auto Sales, told The Daily News on Wednesday that a low-flying pelican distracted him, causing him to jerk the steering wheel a bit — and he then dropped his cell phone.

No buddy, if you read my entire post you would know what I meant to say. People go crazy on spotting supercars & someone who owns one would definitely want to speed up. It could happen to anyone.
