Bingo, it is indeed the over-the-top Maybach Stromlinienwagen.

With bold streamlined art deco coachwork, this Maybach even concealed twin side mounts in the fenders.

Yup, thats the Bucciali TAV or Traction Avant. A radical attempt at a front wheel drive all round independent suspension car. Prototypes even attempted things like two 8 cylinder engines adapted to make a V-16 (You listening Gogi?)

The topic is well covered here.

Well, this is slightly bending the rules as this is a concept, but we all recognise it to be a famous Italian sportscar. Who can guess what it originally was intended to be?

ajmat, I said we can all recognise it to be a lamborghini, but what was the concept originally intended to be? It later became the Espada (with a few changes) after being rejected by the first company.

This is the Lamborghini Espada.

The picture in question is that of a Bertone Pirana based on the chassis of Jaguar E - type 2+2. But this is not the only car on which the Espada is based. The other car which influenced Espada's design is the Bertone Marzal. It had Gull Wing doors which was made mainly of glass.

Coming back to your question, it was originally intended to be a Jaguar.

Pirana

Marzal

Anyway, rule of the game is this thread is meant for production cars and not concept cars!

Bingo! The 67 Pirana was a project stragely backed by the paper "The Telegraph", based on Jaguar mechanicals. Bertone later used the design to create the Espada.

Agreed, which is why I mentioned right from the start Im bending the rules a little, and I specified it to be a conept. The concept is so close to the final car in appearence, I couldnt resist.

Cheers.
