ID:966 1954 Kaiser Darrin 161 convertible

ID:966 is a 1954 Kaiser Darrin 161 convertible.

Official Guess the car Thread (Please see rules on first page!)-1954kaiserdarrin161.jpg

The body was designed by Howard "Dutch" Darrin and Bill Tritt. It was the first American car equipped with a fiberglass body and doors that slid on tracks into the front fender wells.

Dead correct Ram will done.
Sport Convertible

The First Fiberglass Car in the World!
Henry J. Kaiser, a United States industrialist, and Joseph W. Frazer, president of the Graham-Paige Corporation, started making automobiles with the brand names Kaiser and Frazer after World War II. Kaiser-Frazer also built a small car called the Henry J, named for Henry Kaiser. A slightly re-designed version of the Henry J was sold by selected Sears Auto Centers during 1952 and 1953 under the brand name Allstate. This car was tagged as a product of Sears-Roebuck. While listed for information purposes in the Sears 'wish books' the Kaiser Motors operation at Will Run, Michigan was closed down and moved to the Willys-Overland Corporation facility in Toledo, Ohio. Kaiser car production in the USA ended in 1955.

The Kaiser Darrin, designed by Howard 'Dutch' Darrin, was the first production fiberglass sports car in the USA and the world, beating the Corvette to market by one month. The fiberglass body by Glaspar weighs only 300 pounds! A three-position landau top and innovative doors that slide into the front fenders complimented the trademark Darrin 'dip' at the front of the rear fenders. This design detail gave the famous Packard Darrin roadsters of the early 1940's a stunning look. The Kaiser Darrin was one of Dutch's last design achievements, and many say the crowning jewel of his career. Gail Manz first drove an identical Kaiser Darrin in 1954, and has loved the design ever since.

Can somebody identify the blue station wagon here? Year, Make and Model, a must.
You can identify the pretty girl too, s’il vous plaît ! But no marks for identifying her.

Hints for ID:968

If and once you've decided that the car is of USA manufacture, please validate your guesses, by looking on the web at a picture of the vehicle as guessed by you. And compare for...
  1. The chrome trim spear going through the fuel-filler cap on the left side of the car.
  2. That peculiar sculpted body side.
  3. That roof-rack.
  4. That "D" pillar that is thicker at the top and narrows at the joint with the body.
Don't throw a random guess without validating it yourself first.

Even if you look at a dozen brands from 3 US manufacturers and 4 models per year, over 30 years, that's 1,440 discrete individual models. Random guessing will obviously not yield results.

Now not all brands made station wagons (Most of them did). And some brands' station wagons were not as small as this blue car. And some premium brands would not have produced as bland a station wagon as this one...
So there you go, narrowing down choices..
Happy sleuthing !!

Re: Official Guess the car Thread (Please see rules on first page!)

ID:968 is a 1966 Plymouth Belvedere II Station Wagon.

I have a small doubt on my guess, however. The wheel covers in the image don't match the ones in the image at the below link

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/1966-Plymouth...-/350919513624

And oh, that very Angelino Latina oomphie ... is Sonakshi Sinha.

Lastly, Ram many thanks for the pointers and clues ... without which narrowing it down would have been even more difficult.

ID:968 1966 Plymouth Belvedere II station wagon

Yes. You are right FourWheelDrift,
ID:968
is a Plymouth Belvedere II station wagon.

Wheel covers sometimes get lost and new ones, as this is a 47 year old car, may not be available. Then again over the years, people do change wheels to newer steel wheels or even alloys. Exact replacement wheel covers are often quite hard to come by. As an exemplar: How likely is one to encounter the original wheel dressing found on a surviving 1966 Fiat 1100D in India today?

And you got the pretty girl right also. It’s hindi film star Sonakshi Sinha, who features in Yo Yo Honey Singh’s first international song “Superstar” at Malibu -- the affluent beach city in LA County, California. The venue is the “Bates Motel” set used in the Alfred Hitchcock movie Psycho (1960).

ID:969 1970 Honda Vamos

ID:969 is the 1970 Honda Vamos.

Honda's little Kei rear-wheel-drive convertible microtruck.
It shared the same 2-cyl. 356cc OHC engine as the Honda TN360.
All dashboard instruments and switches were waterproof and dust-proof.
Would serve very well as a 4-wheeled autorickshaw in India.
