ID:960 1981 AMC Eagle SX/4

Very easy. ID:960 is an early 1980s AMC Eagle SX/4, all-wheel-drive. Has full time 4x4 and single-speed xfer case.
Having lived in the US in 1985, I am intimately familiar with this car.
  1. Plastic eggcrate grille.
  2. Bumper end caps flowing smoothly into the plastic wheelarches and black plastic rocker panel trim.
So it's a 1981 AMC Eagle SX/4

ID:960 Correct, Ram.

I was intrigued that the SX4 nameplate had been used before.

In the Maruti case, SX4 stands for Suzuki Crossover 4. It is a micro-SUV with 17" wheels and non-low-profile tires, that lost its four-wheel-drive and had a trunk grafted on, to masquerade as a sedan to replace the Baleno in India.

The Eagle is also a 4x4 crossover.

What is the year, make and model of the dark green car?
This is a very easy one -- the car being familiar to most people.

I have to admit here that I don't either! Possibly coachbuilt, in which case I realise it wouldn't belong here, but it should atleast be identified.

This looks like a very rare example of the Fiat 1500D Stabilimenti Farina. It's got a pretty unique rendition of the typical Fiat 3-part Split Grille of the 30s and 40s, can't figure out the exact year though ...

A quick google lead me to this page - http://www.autobelle.it/annuncio_old.php?gb_id=46278

I guess it is the same car (Claims to be a Fiat 1500 Balbo).

PS: One more reference here: http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/othe...-farina-2.html

Re: Official Guess the car Thread (Please see rules on first page!)

It's coach-built alright.
The solitary example of a 1949 6-cylinder, Fiat 1500D cabriolet, bodied by Carrozeria Balbo. Painted metallic salmon orange.

Alfonso Balbo founded his Balbo auto design studio in Turin with headquarters in Paris. When Paris was bombed out in World War two, he moved back to Via Gorizia in Turin.

Between 1946 and 1953, Balbo coach-built a whole bunch of Fiat 1100, 1400 and 1500 cars -- including a two-door 1953 Fiat 1100/103 Berlina and a handful of pretty Siatas in the early 1950s.

See the Balbo built 1954 Siata 200CS example in the photo -- very Aston-Martinish, huh?

Carrozeria Balbo shut shop for good in 1954.
