Could you, perhaps, mean the Brazilian Bianco Tarpan introduced in 1978 with the mechanicals of the Passat TS which ended up resorting to VW Brasilia parts for the subsequent production version?  Its more recent incarnation, the 1981 Tarpan TS, did eventually use the Passat’s 1.6L engine though, and the same year also marked the introduction of a limited-edition convertible variant (Series C for ‘Conversível’) which I also posted somewhere above. This sympathetic model was discontinued with the Bianco factory closing its doors in the mid-80s. Let’s see what else I might have… Top speed (unsurprisingly, given the engine) amounted to a mere 150 km/h with 0-100 km/h acceleration around 15 seconds. Very respectable, if you ask me, and quite in tune with the car’s sporty appearance. Finally, I suspect you might be more familiar with its more renowned relative: the Bianco S. | |
