Pretty much, yeah. (And the cropped pic itself is quite blurry and rather unforgiving.) I’m sure there used to be a relevant thread for ‘mystery cars’ but I can’t seem to find it. Some of the regulars here should sort you out, I hope.

Finally, I’d pick up the gauntlet and try to help you but the car looks definitely too modern to inspire my interest.

Meanwhile… I’m still awaiting guesses with regard to my fiberglass thingy (which isn’t a kit car, by the way).

Hey DM, can we have a clue about this one please? Certainly a very tough one to identify!

Well… I could tell you that it utilized the mechanicals of another, incomparably more popular, model (not the Beetle though), that it had a better-known predecessor within the brand, and that its production lasted till the mid-80s. If I were to give you a useful hint, however, I’d say that the car didn’t hail from North America.

ID:904; 1954 Ford Comète Monte Carlo

ID:904 is a 1954 Ford Comète Monte Carlo
Built only in 1954, this was a single year car.
It was powered by a 3.9 litre flathead V8 that could manage 105 bhp.

I know, SirAlec. It is a made in Brazil, Volkswagen TL Variant.
The Brazilians called this model of Volkswagen, the "Coffin Joe" because of its boxy appearance

Here are a few self explanatory pics.

These models finally led to the boxier Type 3 Variant II as below.
