Ram!

All I can say is :Frustrati :Frustrati

I thought it was a Mazda or something Australian. Even felt that it was a Pontiac due to the grill design although it was distincly Japanese

That was one tough one RAM!!! as ajmat said. Went through everything. Has a feeling it might be pontiac, because of the nose shape!! But did not have the slightest idea it might be a HONDA!!! anyways Great Info!!

Yes. It does have a Pontiac like beak, doesn't it.

Also isn't the coke bottle waist like that of the 1969 Chevy Camaro?

With jet engine like air-intakes and coke-bottle waists, shapely cars abounded for the Japanese to emulate.

Nice comparison. The beak is what made me think it might be a PONTIAC!! BTW japanese cars have something from the European counterparts.. just that they are tweaked a bit .

Would that be an Austin Princess??

ID 548 : Hyundai Pony - uses Mitsubishi bits underneath

Spot on ajmat. ID:548 is a 1978 Hyundai Pony 1400 GLS.

The Pony was Hyundai's first indigenous car.
It used the Mitsubishi 4G33 1.4 litre engine and powertrain. The hatchback body was styled by Giugiaro at Italdesign.

It was exported to Ecuador, Greece and the Benelux.
This picture is from the Dutch brochure and shows the middle model, between the 1200 and the 1600.

I can definitely see where the Nissan Figaro got its inspiration. Can't figure out what it is though. Possibly something from the Nissan stable itself.

This is the first mass-produced four-wheel sedan made by Mitsubishi Motors after the Second World War in response to øthe National Car Program" set by the Japanese Ministry of International Trade and Industry. Mitsubishi Motors introduced the Mitsubishi 500 in 1960 by exploiting all technical means to design and develop small and reliable yet low-priced family cars. Mitsubishi Motors pursued simplicity and rationality in designing the Mitsubishi 500 and set its price to \390,000 at that time. The Mitsubishi 500 also became the first model to be tested in a wind tunnel in Japan. For drive system, rear-engine/rear-drive was adopted. The Mitsubishi 500 had four-wheel independent suspension, which enabled four wheels to move smoothly and steadily even on bad roads in Japan, and solid monocoque chassis construction, which enabled to seat 4. In 1962, Mitsubishi 500 made its world debut in the international motor sport at the Macau Grand Prix where three Mitsubishi 500s occupied from the first to the third rank in the category of Class A (less than 750cc).

what car is this??

Official Guess the car Thread (Please see rules on first page!)-what.jpg

ID:551 is the 1956 Saab 94 (Saab Sonett I Super Sport).

Official Guess the car Thread (Please see rules on first page!)-1956saabsonetti.jpg

Officially unveiled at the Stockholm Motor Show in February 1956, this open-top two seater sports car had an aircraft type
laminated fibre-glass on alloy chassis construction, independent front suspension, coil springs:front and rear and rack and pinion steering.

The engine was a 3-cylinder 748 cc longitudinally mounted two stroke engine with an aluminum head on a CI block. It breathed through a dual choke Solex carb and developed 58 bhp @ 5,000 rpm, and 83.3 Newton-metres torque @ 4,000 rpm
Drove the rear wheels through a 4-speed ZF gearbox.

Only six were ever built even though it meant to be the first full production sports car by SAAB (Svenska Aeroplan Aktie-Bolaget : Swedish Aeroplanes Limited).

Out of the six, this ivory specimen in Mille Miglia colors marked "271" is the very first one and is located at the Saab Museum in Trollhättan, Sweden.
