Build Quality: Mercedes Benz E Class W212 Crash Test!

Was going through the crash test video's on youtube when I came across this

This is the crash test video of the latest Mercedes Benz E Class W212. Look at the amount of deformation on this one for the offset frontal collision test.... its very minimal and I am certain it can take higher collision speeds easily. Look at the front wheel for example... its hasnt gone on to hit the cabin and is still where it should be... the collision hasnt even managed to go until the cabin, even some part of the front fender is intact! Very Impressive!

To make my point clear contrast the above video with below for the BMW 5 Series or for that matter you can check it for any big german saloon

Build quality at its best.

The beemer is a 2004 model. Whereas the merc is 2009 model. So it's not a direct comparison.

What a silly comparison extreme_torque.

The merc video shows offset collision test with the impact to right front of the car. Obviously the left fender and wheel will not be damaged. The video does not show the damage to the right side at all.

The BMW shows the offset collision test with the impact to the front left of the car. Obviously the front left will have more damage than the right. In this case the video does not show any damage to the right.

Both videos camera focuses on the left side. Think about it a little.

I don't mean to be harsh but this is not a fair comparison at all.

oops! thanks for pointing that out, I didnt realize it was left and right! Crash test video's normally show the 'effected side' which almost always the left which is why I was pretty astounded with the results.

So you wanted to show the virtues of build quality and equate it to safety, rings a bell.
