AUDI A7 4-DOOR COUPE

2011 Audi A7 spied for the first time

Sometimes we just can’t get close-up. But we’re still pleased to have the very first photos Audi’s A7 four-door-coupe, even if they’re relatively low resolution! This is proof at last that Audi is hard working on its Mercedes CLS-fighter, likely to be called the Audi A7, when it hits the road in 2010.

The A7 will become the automaker’s new flagship, though it’s not known if it will actually surpass the A8 in terms of price. Only about 40,000 examples of the A7 will be sold annually, according to Autocar. The car will be a four seater, and will ride on a modified version of the next-generation A6 platform. Overall length is expected to be near 193 inches.
S7 and RS7 variants are expected, though it’s not known what engines will provide motivation for the performance-oriented models. With the next-generation S6 slated to downsize from a V10 to a V8, we’re pretty certain eight cylinders will be the maximum configuration. On the other side of the spectrum, a hybrid A7 will combine V6 diesel or gasoline engines and lithium-ion batteries from Sanyo.
As previously reported, the A7 should make its world debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show.

AUDI A8

Spied: Next-generation Audi A8

Following closely on the heels of the first sighting of Audi’s upcoming A7, our spy photographers have captured the first images of the next-generation A8. Although the pictures aren’t of the highest quality, they are the first of the A8 in its own sheet metal.

Under the new sheet metal will be an extended version of the modular platform used in the A4, but expect to see more exotic materials such as aluminum and magnesium employed to help save weight and improve dynamics.
The A8’s engine lineup will likely mirror the current range, starting with a 2.8-liter V6, and topping out 4.2-liter V8 FSI. And, possibly, Audi’s new 6.0L V12 TDI will be offered.
And like the A7, there will also be more supercharged units as well as increased application of Audi’s latest valve-lift system. The base model will remain front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive variants will feature the latest Quattro torque vectoring systems, which distributes drive individually between each axle and between the rear wheels for improved traction and stability.

I think it doesn't look all that bad. What matters more will be the performance.

Audi has a target of being one of the worlds best known luxury brands in the years to come and they seem to be moving full steam ahead. Everyone does it but Audi sure makes it look good.

The way they are going, am sure Audi is on track of changing some of our hardcore brand loyalties

The A8 looks good, but the A7 is the model that Audi can do without.
It looks very bad from the rear three quarter angle. CLS has its own identity and image and looks much better. By the time this car comes out, I believe that Mercedes-Benz will also be ready with a new CLS.
Audi A8 is good but the familiarity must end with A6 and A4.

I think it looks rather nice, in a concept-ish way. You can't compare styling philosophies of Audi and MB can you?

From the sides the A7 looks like Standard 2000ish to me. It looks good but i would have preferred it as a 2 door coupe.

Strange, but the rear is very Volvo'ish. The front is nearly the same. They need to make it more aggressive. We're talking of 2011 here dammit!!
