I really wonder how on earth this car is going to put the power down! Sounds like it has the potential to be one big smoke-ball, but given the history of the atom, i expect some good stuff!

That 2.4L V8 is almost F1esque, peak power is at 11,500RPM. It'd be awesome to see a Caterham vs Ariel dogfight on a track, stuff of dreams. Yea Shan2nu is right, the engine weight will be similar to the Type R unit, makes for a mental fast car.

If you've seen JC drive the 300bhp version on TG, you'l notice that even though he has smoked and spun around in most powerful cars. He never lost control of the Atom (not even when he was flooring it around corners).
The thing about small, high revving engines is that there's never too much torque coming in too quickly. With more than 11000 revs at hand, it will have a large powerband to play around with.
This is gonna be one stunning performer.
Shan2nu
No, Im not talking about the 1001hp Bugatti, That car is way to heavy. I'm talking about the sheer insanity that is the Ariel Atom 500 V8. cheers:
the Caterham RS V8
and the Caparo T1
So if you wanted to commit suicide via insane car, What would you choose?
i'd go with the Atom, because I like how it looks. :D
Note from Mod : Please see the ANNOUCEMENTS section for the instructions on how to upload pictures to Team-BHP correctly as per the rules.
Ariel Atom would be the natural upgrade for any self respecting biker who wishes to go for a Sunday morning drive. So i would choose that :)
Its the Catterham for me anyday. I just love its classic old school looks
There is a nice TopGear Video on Youtube about this car.. check it..

Ariel atom all the way. I am thinking of doing there one day racing school here in chicago but its too bloody expensive for 1 day(almost 2k) for 2.5k I can get 3 days at another school, oh well, lets see if i decide to do the partial one. I am afraid I would want one..

great cars the engine in the ariel and the caterhram, is one fine machine, built by joining two hayabusa engine the capacity is 2.6 liter and it produces 500bhp... now that an engine.

Im sorry but you are mistaken. The Atom has a toyota engine with a turbo. And the Atom that has been shown is not the production spec.
Definitely the Caparo T1, guaranteed to kill.
Jeremy had one hell of a time in that car... :D

the v8 is no toyota engine. it is a high revving monster. possibly a supercharged twin hayabusa..
I'll take the Caterham, please. Always loved those, and this seems to be a great interpretation of an iconic design.
