Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the CLA L at the 2025 Shanghai Motor Show. As the L badge suggests, this is the long-wheelbase version of the sedan specifically for the Chinese market.

The CLA L measures 4,763 mm in overall length and has a wheelbase of 2,865 mm. Both have increased by 40 mm. This makes it longer than the C-Class while having the same wheelbase. The CLA L features a unique rear seat with a cushion that has been extended by 10 mm for better leg support. There are also softer rear seat bolsters for comfort.

Other features are expected to be similar to the regular CLA sedan. This means it features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 14-inch front passenger display. These run a unique version of the MB.OS. Specifically for the Chinese market, the MBUX Virtual Assistant uses local voices as well as the DouBao AI agent from ByteDance. There’s also Chinese-specific navigation and database support.

Powertrain-wise, the EV features an 800-volt architecture with a rear-mounted electric motor that develops 268 BHP and has a CLTC range of up to 866 km. A top-up from a 320 kW DC charger can give you a 370 km range in just 10 minutes.

Mercedes claims the CLA L is the “most efficient car in the segment with 93% energy efficiency from battery to wheels.” The carmaker also said that the prototype achieved a range of 1,071 km on a single charge during testing at a consumption of 8.26 kWh per 100 km at constant speeds.

Looks like a good and well rounded car, we may argue over the looks, but this is how cars are gonna look like, rovers with light bars

Solid offering. But something tells me Mercedes will price this at par with the current E class, and then move the E class even further up the price chain

Mercedes loves to confuse their customers with their own offerings. I was under the impression that CLS was discontinued (despite being a beautiful car), to simply the line up. Yet along with regular A,C,E, they bring alone CLA L, CLE and confuse the entire nomeclature.

The design language is simply atrocious. The lights and design language have no relation. My simple guess is that, possibly the CL models are lifestyle funky models where as the A,C,E,S are elegant models.

On the other end, W206 latest models are tanking in used car prices in India. I have seen 3 series holding better resale vale.
