2026 Volvo S90 facelift revealed; gets plug-in hybrid tech
Volvo has unveiled the new S90 facelift. Apart from a design refresh, there are updates to the powertrain as well.
The S90 facelift gets a new front grille with bi-directional slanting lines. The trademark Thor Hammer headlights are now slimmer and connect with the front grille. The headlights now feature Matrix LED technology. The car gets a sculpted bonnet, redesigned front bumper and front fenders. The side view reveals new diamond-cut alloy wheels featuring contrasting surfaces of raw, polished aluminium and high-gloss black paint. At the rear, it gets new taillamps along with an integrated boot lip spoiler. Two new metallic colours are being added to the palette: Aurora Silver and Mulberry Red.
On the interior, the S90 gets a new 11.2-inch free-standing touchscreen that comes with the new Volvo Car UX user interface. It will also feature over-the-air software updates.
The Volvo S90 now gets a plug-in hybrid variant and gives an EV-only range of 80 km on a single charge. Volvo Cars’ data shows that nearly half of the distance covered by the latest plug-in hybrid Volvo cars is powered purely by electricity. Additionally, the S90 will also come in a mild-hybrid version featuring a four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with a front wheel drive layout.
The S90 also features enhanced sound insulation with advanced adaptive suspension as standard.
The safety kit features Pilot Assist, which allows for comfortable driving on both multi-lane highways and single-lane roads. In addition to maintaining a set speed and adapting to slower-moving vehicles, the car can follow the vehicle ahead and brake automatically to a standstill when needed in stop-and-go traffic. Pilot Assist also looks for lane markings and provides gentle steer assist to keep the car centred in its lane.
The Volvo S90 facelift will initially be available to order for customers in China, followed by select other markets later. Link to Team BHP news
