Next-gen Toyota RAV4 leaked ahead of debut.

- Sixth-gen RAV4 to get edgy styling with Camry-like design cues.
- New RAV4 could debut as Wildlander in China first
- It will continue to sit on the TNGA-K platform
- Expected to get enhanced plug-in hybrid, petrol hybrid setups

The car was displayed at a Toyota dealer meet. Toyota builds the RAV4 in China with its partner GAC and markets it as the Wildlander SUV, which will make its local debut in China in April this year.

The final design of the SUV seen in the leaked image matches the recent sightings of new RAV4 test mules; there’s the Camry-like grille and headlamp design, the glasshouse area and the window line that raises slightly towards the rear.

As far as underpinnings go, the new RAV4, like the Camry, will continue to sit on the modular TNGA-K platform. However, there will be more petrol hybrid powertrains along with enhanced plug-in hybrid setups that offer a higher electric-only range than the outgoing model.

Toyota has evaluated the SUV for an India launch many times, with the last one being as late as 2021. The brand has also tested the current-gen RAV4 across the country with a petrol-hybrid powertrain, but it has not been launched yet.

New Rav4 spied in America!

-The redesigned RAV4 has been spied testing in Michigan, sporting an evolutionary design with some cues from the Camry.
-Toyota could offer a hybrid-only lineup that has outputs of 228 hp and 232 hp.
- It’s so popular that nearly one out of every four Toyotas sold was a RAV4.

The front end is all-new and features C-shaped headlights that are connected by a prominent bar. They’re joined by a distinctive mesh grille and many of these components mirror what has already seen on the Camry.

Further below, there are vertical air curtains that have a horizontal element. Can also see a rectangular intake and a subtle air dam.

Things take a more evolutionary turn further back as the 2026 RAV4 appears to adopt a taller beltline. As part of this effort, there are new front doors that eschew the small dip found on the current model. The beltline also appears flatter, but there’s a new upward kink in the third quarter glass.

The rear end borrows heavily from the current model but adopts new taillights and a sizable spoiler. Toyota also cleaned up the design and hid the exhaust out of the way.

There appear to be a freestanding infotainment system similar to the one found on the current model.

2026 Toyota RAV4: Everything to know about the 6th gen SUV.



-While extensively updated, the new RAV4 is expected to ride on the same platform.
-The hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants will return with power and efficiency boosts.
-Interior upgrades will include higher-quality materials and a larger infotainment screen.
-The front fascia embraces Toyota’s latest design language, as seen on the Prius and the new Camry.

the new RAV4 may feature a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors in front-wheel drive form, producing a combined 225 hp (168 kW / 228 PS). The all-wheel-drive variant will add a rear-mounted motor, enhancing traction in all conditions and boosting total output to 232 hp (173 kW / 235 PS). After the launch of the standard hybrid models, a plug-in hybrid variant is also expected to join the lineup.

The sixth Generation Rav4 will debut in 2026 with multiple powertrain options.







- The power unit of the next RAV4 will be an inline 4-cylinder engine, a 2.5-liter HEV, a PHEV, and a BEV.

- The drive system is FWD and 4WD (E-Four, which uses a motor to drive the rear wheels) for HEVs and PHEVs, and 4WD for BEVs with two front and rear motors.

-It has been decided to continue to use the inline 4 and 2.5L inline engines called Dynamic Force engines.

- The platform will be renewed. The key to the next RAV4 is to set up a new BEV, and the newly developed multi-pathway platform will make it a reality.

- This is an improvement on the GA-K platform used in the Crown, Camry, RAV4, Harrier, etc., for electrified vehicles, and is literally multi-compatible with HEVs, PHEVs, and BEVs.

-HEVs, PHEVs, and BEVs can be configured because of this platform, which will be the biggest change and feature of the next RAV4.

-The price is around 4.5 million yen for the HEV and 5.8 million yen for the PHEV, which is a little higher than the current model. And BEVs are expected to cost around 6 million yen

So, how do you differentiate HEVs & PHEVs from BEVs in terms of appearance? There is no detailed information about that yet, but the basic design will remain the same, and it seems that the differences will be expressed with small items such as colors and emblems of various parts.

Toyota's belief that future BEVs will not be something special but will be chosen as a single grade. There is also information that the body size will be slightly larger in length and width, which will improve the comfort and loading capacity of the interior.
