Ferrari F40 tribute in the works? Could be part of 'Icona' Series According to reports, Ferrari might be bringing back the iconic F40 model.
Reports state that the Italian supercar brand might be working on a limited-run, modernised tribute version of one of Ferrari's most iconic supercars. Rumours from reliable sources state that the F40 tribute could be the third model in Ferrari's 'Icona' series - following the likes of the Monza SP1/SP2 and the Daytona SP3.
This though isn't the first time Ferrari is said to be working on something F40-inspired. Back in 2018, the supercar brand introduced a one-off SP38 Deborah - based on the 488 GTB and powered by its 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8. However, reports state that this time around a stronger connection to the actual model is expected. The upcoming F40 tribute could feature a proper bookcase rear wing, NACA ducts on the bonnet, and the trademark squared-off nose.
While details of the powertrain are unknown at the moment, reports do suggest it could be powered by a pure-ICE unit in the form of the 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 producing 786 BHP. This is the same powertrain as on the SF90XX, but without any of the electrification.
