All-new Audi A7 sedan spied; to replace the ICE-powered A6 globally

The all-new Audi A7 has been spotted testing in Spain. The new sedan will replace the A6 in the brand’s model line-up. It will make its global debut in 2025.

As per the revised nomenclature adopted by Audi, pure EVs will use even numbers, while odd numbers will correspond to ICE-powered models. Thus, the all-electric A6 e-tron replaces the ICE-powered A6, which in turn is being rebranded as the A7.

Now that there’s some clarity about the new nomenclature, let’s take a closer look at the A7’s design. The latest spy images feature a heavily camouflaged prototype of the upcoming sedan. A large grille dominates the front fascia. It appears to be wider and has a new hexagonal mesh. It is flanked by sleek LED headlamps.

At the rear, the new A7 sports slim LED taillights connected by an LED light bar. Other details include dual exhausts, a shark fin antenna and a subtle boot spoiler.

The Audi A7 is likely to be offered with a range of petrol and diesel engines, both paired with a mild-hybrid system. Customers might also get a plug-in hybrid option. The car will be equipped with a dual-clutch automatic transmission and Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system.

I have a strong feeling that this is going to be a really, really good looking car. The silhouette looks so sexy, and the front end somehow reminds me of the new Mustang

Come to think of it, cars in the luxury space hardly make an impact nowadays. Bimmers and Mercs have lost the charm that they had earlier and people don't exactly aspire for them these days (exceptional cases exists of course). I feel the main reason that they don't feel special anymore is because of the design direction they've taken, which feels very passe and not timeless anymore. Audi on the other hand nail styling more often than not. IMO, they strike a perfect balance between modernity and classiness.

Looking forward to the A7 and I hope that this betters the A6 on every aspect, especially on the design front!
