Skoda Kushaq facelift spied testing internationally; Likely to get ADAS

Skoda is said to be working on the facelift version for its mid-size crossover, the Kushaq. Ahead of its arrival, the Skoda Kushaq facelift has been spotted undergoing testing in the international market.

The test mule of the Kushaq facelift can be seen with heavy camouflage at the front and rear of the SUV, hinting at significant upgrades. Although details are a bit scarce at this point, the spy images show the SUV with a sensor on the front air dam, suggesting it could feature an ADAS suite. Other details include a new front grille, tweaked headlamps, a revised front and rear bumper, and an updated taillight design. The SUV will also feature a newly designed set of alloy wheels.

Inside, the Kushaq facelift will continue offering features like an electric sunroof, a fully digital instrument cluster, a two-spoke steering wheel, and a large touchscreen infotainment system. What could be new is a revised dashboard, new upholstery, and the addition of ventilated front seats, among many more.

The Skoda Kushaq facelift will carry forward the same engine options as the current model. This includes 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI engines paired with either a 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, or 7-speed DSG transmission.

Reports suggest that Skoda could debut the facelifted SUV sometime during the second half of 2025. Once launched in India, it will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos.

Let's hope that Skoda prices it right this time.

When viewed upfront, this looks almost exactly like the Taigun, but the rear profile and alloys suggest otherwise. I'm still confused as to which car this actually is

I'm not convinced that the facelifts (of all four VAG cars) will give a significant boost to their sales; this will keep the momentum going at best. As I see it, Kushaq and Taigun suffer from the lack of street cred and this is one of their weakest points, if not the weakest point. Skoda-VW better be readying the next generation products ASAP. First thing to fix in the crossovers (after the AC of course) = size, because in India, size matters!

Here is Sirish Chandran's podcast with Mr. Ashish Gupta. It's a good watch:

IMO, Skoda/VW's platform is best suited for a sub-4m car. It's too narrow to compete in 4.3m segment as the car is still too small despite paying 45% GST.

The car needs to get bigger to compete with Creta/Seltos and I don't see that happening with this facelift.
