Can you share the observations made about the quality of steel used in Creta?

I don't disagree with you on this, in fact I have the exact same opinion. Ditto for S-Cross 1.6 and the 1.3 like I mentioned in my previous posts. The only difference being what you highlighted in the below quote. Hyundai knew the market pulse - Big car, upmarket interiors, multiple engine and transmission options. This pulse, that you yourself are referring to was squarely lost by Maruti. Smaller car, diesel + manual only and with their history of rattly interiors after the first year or two, no one was ready to plonk down their money for what they had put out.

Essentially, we both are saying the same thing in the end!

I ain't blaming Maruti for this - They just got the pricing wrong with those cars which they themselves have attempted to correct, but in your previous post you indicated the reason the cars didn't sell were due to Maruti & Tata haters, not the pricing. Hyundai didn't have to price correct because the market thinks (and still do) that is an appropriate price, regardless of whether it is actually overpriced or not.

Also don't forget what Toyota does with the Fortuner

There is an entire thread that is dedicated to this topic, so I will leave it at that.

The Creta however is a different story. I would say, it was a mix of fortuitous timing, lack of competition and some factor that my logical brain cannot process. It just did not make economic sense but it sold well and didn't appear much in Second hand market in Newish condition unlike Thar, so it was a good Car for sure. I watched the video a couple of times as Japanese listening practice. (I understand Japanese, if spoken at a normal pace. This guy, being a typical Youtuber speaks very fast and with quick edits, was hard for me to catch.)

What I can summarise is that this reviewer is very impressed with the Fronx, particularly the sound insulation, sporty ride quality, premium looks inside and outside, practical features (mulitple drive modes) etc.

He didn't mention anything on ADAS, or JNCAP rating.

Overall, he gives a to the Fronx. Looks like a good job by Suzuki.

Re: Suzuki Fronx launched in Japan with ADAS and AWD

On the other hand, it's the first car after Brezza that was designed and built by Maruti designers/engineers in India.

Just like Brezza which looks proportionate and most appealing, according to me, Fronx is also a stunner. Seems like Maruti Engineers have a great knack of building good looking cars.

It's interesting how Suzuki allows Indian engineers / designers to design and build some of their models in india but Indian OEMs like Tata and Mahindra publicise how their cars are designed elsewhere (sigh!).

Good Job, Maruti. They deserve the credit more than Suzuki Corp.

Re: Suzuki Fronx launched in Japan with ADAS and AWD

The is what the Grand Vitara AWD should've been in India!

A fully-loaded, AT+AWD crossover. All we got was an overpriced, lone MT variant pretty much nobody wanted to buy. A shame really, because AllGrip Select is pretty great for most daily driving, road-use scenarios.

Re: Suzuki Fronx launched in Japan with ADAS and AWD

I think 70 % to 80 % people use their cars in urban environment and thus AWD is not a necessity at all & plus it compromises the fuel economy of a car. If you really want a AWD vehicle, buy the car which has 4 x 4 option. Secondly, Fronx in india gets a 1.2 l engine due to the small car rule (which rule is absolutely useless), but it is what it is.

However if you want a fronx with a more racy engine, you can always buy the 1.0 turbo model while the 1.2 l engine users shall be happy with its fuel economy.

Re: Suzuki Fronx launched in Japan with ADAS and AWD

Please find the Suzuki Fronx catalog in Japanese.
The catalog from the Suzuki Japan website was 44MB and I compressed it into around 8MB.

And also the specifications I have extracted from page 16.

Suzuki Fronx becomes a hit in Japan too. Gets 9000 bookings with ~ 7-8 months waiting period.

Target monthly sales is 1000 units. (limitation to production volumes from India)

Re: Suzuki Fronx launched in Japan with ADAS and AWD

There is a lot of talk about these trim levels and variants not making it to India as nobody buys them. And yes, nobody buys them. Nobody = a handful of buyers a week.

I do not understand this justification.

These variants ought to be available as an option at the very least, regardless of demand. Customers ought to be given the option to not select it, should they wish. But the option must be available.

There will always be a few buyers who will want something like this. Simply because it is not a volume product and barely sells a few hundred a month at best, shouldn’t be the reason to avoid offering it in the country where it’s being made!

Even if it doesn’t click, there are other products in the range that can and are making up for it.

Re: Suzuki Fronx launched in Japan with ADAS and AWD

Suzuki Fronx demand soars in Japan, 9 times more orders than monthly sales target.

Quote:
Based on the concept of an "easy-to-handle coupe-style SUV," the Fronx debuted in October 2024 as a new genre of compact SUV that combines strength, quality, and sophistication with good handling and comfortable interior space.

At the announcement event, it was reported that the cumulative number of orders had reached 9,000 units (9 times the monthly sales target), which is a ridiculous sales situation.
In addition, the price of the vehicle itself is relatively reasonable 2,541,000 yen ~ 2,739,000 yen.

Partly because of this, the Fronx is doing so well that it is likely to dominate the domestic middle-class SUV market for a while.

Re: Suzuki Fronx launched in Japan with ADAS and AWD

Suzuki Fronx Sea Bass Night Game concept to premiere at the Tokyo Auto Salon.

-The Fronx Sea Bass Night Game concept adds off-road bits and a special livery.

Suzuki Fronx launched in Japan with ADAS and AWD-screenshot-20241220-203213.png

The Suzuki Fronx Sea Bass Night Game is inspired by the theme of “night fishing in the city” and has a number of off-road accessories.

The Suzuki Fronx is an urban SUV, sharing its underpinnings with the Baleno hatchback. The Sea Bass Night Game edition rides on a new set of wheels shod in Yokohama Geolandar X-AT rubber. It also features roof-mounted LEDs, a roof box that can carry extra gear, and protective bars on the lower part of the front bumper.

The bespoke livery combines black and lime green graphics, with matching accents on the grille, bumper, and fenders. A more durable paint has been applied on the plastic cladding, mirror caps, and hood, enhancing the outdoorsy stance. Judging from the name of the concept, we wouldn’t be surprised if Suzuki packs it with fishing gear.

The company said that the goal of the concept is to make a “cool impression”, so we don’t expect major upgrades under the skin. The most powerful powertrain option of the FWD-only Fronx is a mild-hybrid 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 102 hp (76 kW / 103 PS).
