BMW seems to be working on a facelift for its 2 Series Gran Coupe. Ahead of its global unveil expected soon, patent images of the compact luxury sedan have been leaked online, giving us a first glimpse of the upcoming model.

As seen from the patent images, the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe comes with sleeker headlights, redesigned air intakes and bumper. Other details also include flush-fitting door handles, while a newly designed set of alloy wheels is also expected. The Gran Coupe will feature newly designed tail lights as well. No images of the interior have been revealed.



BMW also hasn't announced the powertrain options on the upcoming 2 Series Gran Coupe. However, reports state it could borrow the engine options from its smaller sibling, the 1 Series.

These new entry level BMWs look like European market Korean cars. BMW really needs to figure out a newer design language. The current one is too over the top. It simply is not worthy of a BMW badge, So many details which add nothing to the design and the overall lack of any "class" whatsoever

I am amazed how big it is for a 2 series. Or in general how cars just keep getting bigger with no end in sight.

The 2 series is the same size as E90 3 series, 3 is same as 5, 5 is same as 7 and 7 is now well, the size of a truck.

That is because all the Good European designers and engineers who designed the Good looking, fine handling german cars now work for the Koreans.
Hyundai-Kia has set up a Kickass team. They have essentially brought the finest that Europe had to offer under a single roof and merged that with the Korean efficiency and innovativeness.
The top dogs who were competing with each other among the German Big 3 are now working for them as a single team.

I think BMW is going through its second Chris Bangle era. All we can hope is that they come out of this better with better design just like we got after the Bangle era.
