Re: New Audi A5 globally unveiled as a replacement for the A4 sedan

Now that's a good looking car, maybe could have done without the connected tail lamps but then I am old fashioned.

I wonder once this gen comes to India, do we see chances of a local assembly?

Re: New Audi A5 globally unveiled as a replacement for the A4 sedan

Reminds me of the Audi era from 2010 till 2015, absolute beauty. That design looks refreshing, tasteful and timeless.
This will surely get Audi back in the game, they just need to price it right and give a few powerful drivetrains as options.

If ICE versions are taking odd numbers, does that mean A4 will return in EV guise?
I am really worried about the A6 and the A8. I can never imagine those two beautiful executive saloons becoming EVs. The looks would be compromised, If they retain the personality of A6 and A8, even in the EV segment, I would be surprised. Be ready to be disappointed.

As an Audi owner, could not agree more.
The design is timeless and comfort and space levels are fantastic.

Re: New Audi A5 globally unveiled as a replacement for the A4 sedan

Kudos to Audi for refreshing and modernising the A4 without compromising its philosophy on true Audi design. This one exemplifies the Audi character - sporty, techy yet elegant. I am not a fan of the connected tail lights though Audi is the “baap” when it comes to light designs in general. Even the flap door handles which generally look yuck in luxury cars, look much better here.

Audi’s design aesthetics are just super. Overall this should smash its segment competition especially BMW with likely latest design JV with LEGO blocks while Merc is trying to convert cars into 5 star hotel rooms which incidentally move as well. I am of the camp that a car should first and foremost feel like a car, it’s a sporty object after all.

Audi (in India) should get a much needed boost at the entry level where max volumes are generated for them. Current Q3 is a great car too with the best exterior design (IMO) and most mechanically sorted but interiors were lagging behind the latest gen offerings from German competitors, this new A4 or A5 solves for that too. Hopefully we don’t get puny engines at the entry level.

Btw, what is the typical gap in global vs India launch for Audi? Do we see this by ~2026? And do we then get even bigger discounts on the outgoing A4?

If they can continue their discounts offering in India on this

Looks sharp and graceful in design. They needed some sharp, angular edges since their rounded designs were getting really old.

Re: New Audi A5 globally unveiled as a replacement for the A4 sedan

Fantastic Update, The rear looks stunning, in-line with the current generation of connected taillamp trend, the headlamps look sleek, the aero-bits below the headlamp look a little too large for such a sleek machine, if the Aero-inlet surrounding is matched to the body colour of the car, it wont shout out for attention.

Kudos to Audi!

Audi has somehow turned the classy, sleek looking A4 into a wannabe Hyundai:

Even the interiors scream Hyundai (and to some extent - Lexus). Is this Audi's attempt at trying to appeal to the next generation? Hopefully their SUV redesigns do not go overboard.
Yes it resembles few Hyundai designs, but I won't say it's terrible. The Hyundai in the image shared by you looks rather nice . And what's wrong with interiors of Hyundai & Lexus? They are sometimes ahead of the Germans

I don't know why but I also feel the interior also resembles the layout of a hyundai. I could be wrong but it's my honest first impression

Re: New Audi A5 globally unveiled as a replacement for the A4 sedan

The design language consistency and continuity in Audis in general and the A5 (now) in particular is amazing. Many manufacturers have taken u-turns and double u-turns with their designs. For a long running model line, the switch from A4 to A5 is not a natural one for me to fathom (especially since the A5 used to exist as another model line).

Really wish Audi offers Quattro as an option in their sedans along with multiple power trains in India.

I don't think the A4 was ever seen as sleek. It never had the appeal of the C class or even the 3 series (It is a elegant looking car. No doubt). That belongs to the A5/S5 series with its coupe look towards the back. To me, it looks like Hyundai took that design for their cars.

I think this move is to consolidate the two models. From a manufacturing perspective, it does not make sense to sell a model that isn't selling all that well.

I like this new A5 though the merging of the two models no longer makes it look like a true A5.
