Chevrolet could bring back 'Spark' nameplate for a new affordable crossover EV The Chevrolet Spark was a small, compact, affordable city car in the company's lineup before being discontinued in 2022. Now, according to reports, General Motors is contemplating bringing back the nameplate in the form of an electric crossover.
Reports suggest GM has applied a trademark for the name 'Chevrolet Spark EUV' under Category 12 (motor land vehicles, automobiles) in Laos. The EUV suffix refers to a crossover variant previously used on the Bolt EUV.
Apart from the name, no other details have been revealed. However, the Spark nameplate does indicate an entry-level model with an affordable price tag. Reports suggest that the next-gen Chevrolet Bolt EUV will be based on the Ultium platform, making it larger and costlier than the now-discontinued model. This could allow GM to position the Spark EUV below the next-gen Bolt, making it the new entry-level model in the brand's product lineup.
GM though is yet to make any official announcements on the same. However, it does make sense for the brand, considering both Ford and Jeep are known to be developing an affordable EV within the $25,000 price range.
