Fisker willing to sell off remaining EVs for $14,000 per SUV; Down from $70,000 price tag

According to media reports, EV maker Fisker which recently filed for bankruptcy has sought approval from the Delaware Court Judge to sell off the remaining inventory of its all-electric Ocean SUV.

Reports suggest that a New York-based vehicle leasing company is willing to buy off all the remaining 3,231 units of Fisker Ocean SUV for a total sum of $46.25 million - working out to $14,000 per vehicle. This is a massive fall from the SUV's starting price of $70,000 at the time of launch.

As per reports, the New York-based leasing company mainly offers vehicles to ride-hail drivers in the New York city areas. The leasing company though has agreed to wait till all the open recalls on the Fisker Ocean EV are addressed.

The leasing company is said to buy all ready-for-sale models and can't re-sell the vehicles within the first 12 months. Reports state that the leasing company will pay $3,200 for previously-titled vehicles, $16,500 for models deemed "good working order" and $2,500 for the damaged ones.

Although $14,000 sounds cheap, I think it still is a great bargain for Fisker considering Ocean is just a handsome looking paper weight on wheels. I say that because, Ocean is Gen1 product from an unestablished company with tons of niggles.

Fisker would have sold/auctioned to private buyers to make more money, but strict US lemon laws would have pushed Fisker to go look for a fleet buyer.

With no employees to fix SW, HW bugs, and being on the verge of shutdown, Fisker will gladly take $14,000 a piece. Good luck to the fleet owner.

Stunning depreciation, really feel for the early buyers, aka Guinea pigs. Talk of pioneering costs!
