Hyundai N Vision 74 to enter production in 2026; Brand's 765 BHP RWD hydrogen supercar

According to media reports, Hyundai's plan to introduce a hydrogen supercar has received the go-ahead. The South Korean carmaker will put the 'N Vision 74 concept' into production, two years after it was unveiled.

The production-spec N Vision 74, internally referred to as 'N74', will be Hyundai's flagship supercar. It will come in the form of a two-door coupe with gullwing doors, while also featuring a rear-wheel-drive layout. The supercar takes inspiration from the brand's very first car - the 1974 Pony Coupe.

The exact specifications of the upcoming hydrogen supercar are yet to be revealed. However, reports suggest that the production model will produce at least 765 BHP - up from the 671 BHP on the concept. Also, the N74 will reportedly be able to sprint from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 3 seconds flat.

Hyundai's N74 is also expected to go after the Nurburgring record for production cars, trying to beat the time set by the Mercedes-AMG One of 6 minutes & 35.183 seconds.

Reports state that Hyundai will limit the production of the supercar to just 200 units. It will be built over a span of two years between 2026 and 2028. Prototype testing though is expected to begin as early as August this year.

The production-spec Hyundai N74 is estimated to cost 500 million won (around US$ 365,000).

This car gives a DMC DeLorean vibe; maybe this hydrogen car kicks off a new area of opportunity for alternate fuel/power sources besides petrol/diesel

It's actually the otherway around.

Hyundai comissioned Giugiaro to design a car for them, which was the Hyundai Pony concept.

Hyundai never put that concept into production, and Giugiaro evolved that design into the DMC12 for DeLorean.

The N74 is a modern take/evolution of that same design lineage.

Giugiaro "recycled" the design of the production version of Hyundai Pony for the Lancia Delta, which is the reason the Ioniq 5 which is an evolution of that lineage looks like a Delta Integrale.

No wonder I always liked the looks of the Ioniq - I used to keep watching old lancia rally videos at some point of time on the internet. Never made the connection till your post.
