Re: Toyota unveils sixth-gen 4Runner SUV 15 years after the last model arrived

I am happy for drivetrain, off road options updates with 6th Gen. But there are Two things I felt were not so great with the new 4runner.

1) 4runner, used to have a unique styling in the Toyota Lineup, but with the 6th Gen, it became too generic. Now it looks like a Tacoma without a bed.I still love the external appearance of a Gen5 over Gen6.

2) Next is non-availability of a third row for off road models which I couldn't find a logic behind which Toyota is doing it for sometime. They don’t even give optional third row for 4Runner (TRDs) and Gx500 (Overtrail) off road models. Landcruiser 250 in the USA (Prado elsewhere) is hybrid only has the excuse of the hybrid battery eating up the third row space . But why does the 4runner and gx550 not have the option for third row for off road oriented models while Fortuner gets third row for all models.

Is the payload capacity reduced due to additional offroad Hw is to be blamed for ?

Re: Toyota unveils sixth-gen 4Runner SUV 15 years after the last model arrived

Take my money and deliver one. This is exactly what my Dr prescribed for me. Toyota, rugged (looks and capability) highway rider plus a hybrid. What else one wants, I really wonder. I thought the new Prado was that One vehicle but I change my mind and I will take this any day for Indian road conditions. Toyota has a business already for India with this. Bring this on and do a CKD and bring the price down to 60 on road while keeping the Fortuner at 40+ lakhs on road. All the Fortuner owners will upgrade to this easily and Fortuner becomes a VFM and will sell still as an aspirational vehicle.

OT: The Wrangler is going to be upgraded and launched soon (in a month or so). Kind of competitor and thought it's relevant.
