Porsche has officially confirmed that its iconic 911 supercar will be offered with a hybrid powertrain this year. As per the German car brand, the Porsche 911 hybrid is expected to debut sometime during the summer of this year. It will be the first of four new launches scheduled to take place in 2024.



As per reports, the hybrid 911 will arrive alongside an upgrade to the entire 911 lineup. Oliver Blume, CEO of Porsche, stated, "Once again we are deploying technology in series-production models that we have derived from the world of motorsport." He added, "And our customers can look forward to further technological innovations along those same lines."

Reports state that the 911 hybrid won't be a plug-in hybrid, rather, it could feature a small battery and an electric motor on the front axle, while the flat-six IC engine will power the rear wheels. Having said that, Porsche themselves haven't revealed any details of the upcoming powertrain. However, Porsche did mention that the brand is "committed to three types of powertrains: efficient ICEs, exciting plug-in hybrids and innovative all-electric models."

Excellent, Porsche finally bringing the WEC tech used on the iconic 919 Hybrids and their 918 Hybrid supercar to the 911. Hopefully it will also feature a KERS system. So, this will be a mini-918 Hybrid for lesser mortals
