Volkswagen Tayron globally unveiled; India launch expected in 2025

Volkswagen has unveiled the new Tayron SUV for global markets. The new Volkswagen Tayron will replace the Tiguan AllSpace (3-row version). The new Tayron will go on sale in China first, followed by other international markets. The new SUV is also expected to make its way to India sometime in 2025.

As mentioned before, the Tayron is essentially a stretched version of the brand's latest-gen Tiguan model. The Tayron carries forward a similar design with sleek LED headlamps at the front connected by a light bar, an aggressive-looking front bumper, a decent amount of chrome all around, large alloy wheels and LED tail lights at the rear.

Inside as well, the Tayron will share a lot of features and equipment with the new Tiguan, including the dashboard, illuminated trim elements and large screens for the instrument cluster and the central infotainment system.

The Volkswagen Tayron is based on the brand's MQB EVO platform, which also underpins the new Tiguan and the Skoda Kodiaq. The Tayron measures 4,735 mm in length, 1,859 mm in width and 1,682 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,791 mm - which is 111 mm longer than that of the VW Tiguan.

Powering the new Volkswagen Tayron is the familiar 2.0-litre TSI engine with varying states of tune. Certain markets will get a 2.0-litre diesel engine option as well. All powertrains will come with a 48V mild hybrid setup, with either 4WD or 2WD.

Reports also state that the Volkswagen Tayron will be manufactured in Germany, China & Mexico. In addition, the SUV will also be assembled in India via CKD kits to take on local competitors like the Jeep Meridian, Citroen C5 Aircross and the Skoda Kodiaq.

"Tiguan L Pro" - tacky name! Thank God we'll get a better one.

I personally didn't like the proportions of the Tayron. It looks bulky from the side and lends it an MPV'ish look IMO. I can see genes of the Jeep Meridian and Maruti Grand Vitara at the rear end of the car.

Let's see how the new Tiguan and Tayron perform in the Indian market if and when they do arrive.

Why wouldn’t they just continue to call it the Tiguan All Space instead of going through the hoops of establishing a brand new model? The brand Tiguan has a good recall in India. It just was a bit overpriced and had reliablity issues if I remember right.

Tbh it looks like polo on steroids ! LOL
Virtus looks really good with this front fascia . I think this front fascia is only suitable for the sedan/hatchback segment.

So that they can price it even obnoxiously higher.

"L" pro. Brought the Hyundai "LVDA" (Lead Vehicle Departure Assist) to my mind.

Re: Volkswagen Tayron globally unveiled; India launch expected in 2025

Looks Nice! Front end has a blend of the Touareg we got in India and discontinued Scirocco to it, rear is not nice am not a fan of these long running led’s but that seems to be the trend now it also has a bit of Grand Vitara element in it.

Glad they are using a different name Tayron (sounds cool and suits a German like the erstwhile T-Roc)instead of Tiguan which is struggling and also differentiates from the confusing Chinese sort of names they use now like Taigun, T-Roc pro also could have been nice.

This ain't it chief. Virtus and Tiguan look really good with this front but this one looks so weird especially from the rear.

China-spec Volkswagen Tayron interior leaked

Earlier this year, the first images of the Volkswagen Tayron surfaced online, giving us a first look at the new 7-seater SUV. Now, new images have leaked revealing its interior.

The Tayron is the replacement for the Tiguan AllSpace. It will be sold in the Chinese market as the Tiguan L Pro. The SUV is also expected to be launched in India sometime next year.

The interior of the Tayron looks similar to that of the latest-gen Tiguan. It features a sleek, futuristic dashboard with a digital instrument cluster and a large floating touchscreen in the centre. There’s also a third screen on the passenger side.

The car has fewer physical switches, as most functions have been integrated into the touchscreens. The centre console houses a wireless charging pad, cup holders and a rotary drive mode selector.

The Tayron is based on the MQB EVO platform. The SUV is powered by 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines. All powertrains have a 48V mild-hybrid setup, with either 4WD or 2WD.
