Re: Volkswagen Tayron globally unveiled; India launch expected in 2025

VW Tayron debuts in Europe. The 7-seater is India bound in 2025/26.

> New SUV for the European market: the Tayron is Volkswagen’s second-largest SUV in Europe after the Touareg

> The large Volkswagen SUV with five or optionally seven seats is positioned between the Touareg (premium class) and the Tiguan (mid-class).

> Sophisticated all-rounder – extremely spacious passenger and luggage compartments, five or optionally seven seats and a large maximum trailer weight of up to 2.5 tonnes

> Innovative plug-in hybrid: the Tayron eHybrid offers superior power delivery and becomes an electric car for everyday driving with an electric range of over 100 km

> Available to order now: launching as the Life version, the Tayron will be available with a 110 kW mild hybrid drive and an extensive range of equipment from 45,475 euros

> The new Tayron celebrates its trade fair premiere at the “Mondial de l’Auto” in Paris from 14 to 20 October

> Generous: the space available. In the Tayron, five passengers can enjoy up to 885 litres of luggage space for travelling on holiday.

> A total of seven efficient drive systems will soon be available. The range includes two next-generation plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (eHybrid). They can achieve electric ranges of over 100 km and long journeys with up to 850 km between two refuelling stops.

> Measuring around 4.8 m in length, the Tayron is characterised by a clear, striking SUV design.

> At the front, LED headlights and the standard illuminated Volkswagen badge create an unmistakable light signature as night falls. The same applies to the rear with its full-length LED crossbar and illuminated Volkswagen logo.

Volkswagen will also offer the Tayron with two plug-in hybrid drives (eHybrid), two turbocharged petrol engines (TSI) and two turbocharged diesel engines (TDI). All drive systems are coupled to an automatic dual clutch gearbox (DSG). Even the entry-level eTSI engine with an output of 110 kW (150 PS) is a high-tech drive system (mild hybrid with 48 V technology). However, the advantages of the electric and petrol drives are combined in the two innovative plug-in hybrid models. They deliver a system power of 150 kW (204 PS) and 200 kW (272 PS). Thanks to the 19.7 kWh (net) battery, both Tayron eHybrids can achieve electric ranges of over 100 km. Their batteries can be charged with up to 11 kW at an AC wall box or AC charging station and with up to 50 kW at DC quick-charging stations.

The largest TDI with 142 kW (193 PS) is also very efficient and is paired with 4MOTION all-wheel drive as standard. All Tayron 4MOTION models are designed for maximum trailer weights of up to 2,500 kg (braked, 12 per cent gradient). Thanks to the Trailer Assist maneuvering assist system, which comes as standard in conjunction with the towing bracket (folding), even large horse boxes or boat trailers are easy to handle.

Four drive systems available for the start of pre-sales. Four drive system options will be available when pre-sales start tomorrow. The entry-level version is the 110 kW eTSI in the Life specification package, which is available from 45,475 euros. In addition, the two eHybrid versions and the most powerful TDI with 142 kW are also available to order.

Interesting to read that it sits between the Touareg and Tiguan. I thought this was like a replacement to the Tiguan ( atleast in the US).

Glad to see that they added a light to the 3rd Row seats, which was missing in the 2nd Gen Tiguan. I could never see the kids while driving in the dark, nor could they read or pick any stuff.
The boot space too looks a bit more than my Tiguan, just from the pictures. Looking forward for some numbers to compare.

Boot space is as large as 885 litres in the five-seat model, or 850 litres for the seven-seater with the rearmost bench folded away.

In full seven-seat mode, the boot space is still rated at 345 litres.

Re: Volkswagen Tayron globally unveiled; India launch expected in 2025

VW has also Kia-fied their cars :( I wish we can get diesels, but i guess there's zero chance of that happening. i'm not prepared for single-digit kmpl on highway drives.. there's really no alternative to diesel for high-performance+high-efficiency highway drives right now.

Re: Volkswagen Tayron globally unveiled; India launch expected in 2025

Atleast in photos, the car doesn’t look good for me. The length with higher ground clearance is giving a very odd stance. The rear, especially in that blue shade, is giving Grand Vitara / Hyryder vibes.

However in the video it looks good with reduced ride height. Hope they don’t unnecessarily increase the ride height for India.

Re: Volkswagen Tayron globally unveiled; India launch expected in 2025

Looks more like Toyota/Honda. Not like a VW. Wouldn't they save some money if they don't go for connected tail lights But they should keep the price same as Hycross with Hybrid drivetrain.

At least interior will be like a VW.

Tiguan, Tayron and Passat with all-wheel drive and new powerful turbocharged petrol engines.

Volkswagen Tayron globally unveiled; India launch expected in 2025-screenshot-20250211-193219.jpg

- High-output turbocharged petrol engines expand the range of drive systems in addition to the already available powerful turbodiesel.
- Combination of TSI and 4MOTION enables towing capacities of up to 2,200 kg for the Passat and Tiguan and up to 2,500 kg for the Tayron
- The new 2.0 TSI 4MOTION with a choice of 150 kW (204 PS) or 195 kW (265 PS) can now be ordered for the Tiguan and Tayron
- Passat as an all-wheel drive TSI model is always delivered with 195 kW and sporty R-Line equipment
Quote:
Volkswagen is expanding the drive range of the best-selling Tiguan and Passat as well as the new Tayron with the most powerful turbocharged petrol engines (TSI). These are coupled to the intelligently controlled 4MOTION all-wheel drive as standard. The combination of TSI and 4MOTION enables towing capacities of up to 2,200 kg (Passat and Tiguan) and 2,500 kg (Tayron with appropriate equipment). The Tiguan and Tayron SUVs can be configured as 2.0 TSI 4MOTION with 150 kW (204 PS) or 195 kW (265 PS). The Passat 2.0 TSI 4MOTION always comes in the more powerful 195 kW version. Sales of the new Volkswagen all-wheel drive models have begun in some markets in Europe. The turbocharged petrol engines complement the most powerful TDI engine with 142 kW (193 PS).
150 kW plus 4MOTION. The Tiguan and Tayron are available in the first TSI output level with 150 kW (204 PS). In combination with a seven-speed direct shift gearbox (DSG), the TSI already transfers its maximum torque of 320 Nm towards the all-wheel drive from an engine speed of 1,400 rpm. WLTP consumption figures of 7.5 to 8.3 l/100 km, depending on the product line and equipment, show how efficiently the TSI works. This is accompanied by dynamic performance of well above 220 km/h for the top speed and under 7.5 seconds for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h. The Tiguan 2.0 TSI 4MOTION is available at prices from 48,175 euros, the larger Tayron from 50,770 euros (as from the Life equipment line in each case).

195 kW plus 4MOTION. It is the most powerful TSI engine in the Tiguan, Tayron and Passat: the TSI with 195 kW (265 PS). A look at the maximum output and the engine code reveals that a counterpart to this exact engine with identical output also powers the iconic Golf GTI. However, Volkswagen engineers have specifically adapted the engine for use in the larger Tiguan, Tayron and Passat models and increased the maximum torque for these product lines. Instead of 370 Nm as in the front-wheel drive Golf GTI, the engine in the all-wheel drive Tiguan, Tayron and Passat produces a maximum torque of 400 Nm from 1,650 rpm. The most powerful four-cylinder TSI of these three product lines is always coupled with the sportiest equipment specification: R-Line.
