New-gen Skoda Kodiaq vRS with 268 BHP in the works; launch expected in 2024

Skoda recently unveiled their second-generation iteration of the Kodaiq SUV. The new-gen Skoda Kodiaq is offered with multiple powertrains, including petrol, diesel, mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid options.

Now, according to a media report, the Czech carmaker is said to be working on the SUV's flagship offering, the Kodaiq vRS. Johannes Neft, Technical Development Head of Skoda, confirmed the model, revealing that the company is "working on it".

While details of the upcoming Skoda Kodiaq vRS are still scarce, reports suggest that the performance SUV could arrive in international markets as early as 2024. Neft went on to state that the new Kodiaq vRS would "not necessarily" use a plug-in hybrid powertrain. He hinted that the performance SUV would most likely be powered by the brand's 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 268 BHP and will come standard with 4WD. The new-gen Kodiaq vRS is expected to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds and have a top speed of 155 mph (249.4 km/h)

The new Skoda Kodiaq vRS will also come with a bunch of sporty cosmetic upgrades to help differentiate it from the standard variants. These upgrades include a bespoke bumper, contrasting trim elements and a few other mechanical changes.
