I travel to Munich quite frequently.
It's always been Fly-> commute to meetings-> talk talk talk-> banter Banter Banter-> Drink > eat wiener schnitzel -> back to airport and back home.
Always tight.

This time around, I chose to relax a bit. Timed my meetings to align with Oktoberfest and hung around Munich a bit longer than usual. Did the usual bits as well but I took some personal time as well and met some friends for some Banter-time. One of them suggested a restaurant in a popular hang-out for Auto-enthusiasts - Motorworld.



As somebody from Motorworld described - It is a market place for Enthusiast cars. It is a premise to sell used cars, Shop-in Shop dealerships, Long term storage facility, Servicing, Restaurants and a Hotel too.

Yes, a Hotel. A hotel where you can park your car right next to you! More on that later.

Motorworld is in a huge warehouse in a relatively silent part of Munich.



As soon as we entered, the 1st thing we see is this huge welcome banner for an after party event organized by Activ-Group- It has something to do with the Munich Auto Show. Didn't care to know more.



Upon enquiring at the 'TATA' Concierge desk, I was told it was invite only but the rest of the premises were free to roam around. I was curious about the covered cars. She then said 'Technically, you can hang around for the show as well'. It helped that we went there straight from a business meeting which meant we were dressed reasonably appropriately for an event like this.

But first, a quick walk around the corridors.
















While we were still walking around, we heard a loud engine getting cranked up. It was the V12 of a 1930 Roll Royce Phantom II Satis.





The gearbox, axles and frame come from Rolls-Royce , but the 27 Litre engine is a 12-cylinder Liberty aircraft engine from Satis, which was used in fighter and bomber aircraft during the First World War. To operate, 70 liters of cooling water, 30 liters of engine oil and around 3 liters of petrol are required per 100 kilometers.

What a beast. This car, as were the rest of the ensemble, were driven around the facility.

Curiosity got the better of us and soon we were part of the event.



next up was this unique AMG GT based speedster called 'Speed Legend' made by Bussink. never heard of them. Apparently this car, as are most that were part of this event, is owned by the owner of Motorworld.

The tour guide, yes Motorworld has a tour guide, told me that this a very limited run series and the prince of Monaco has one too.







Next up- the McLaren Elva. This is a car I'd never thought I'd see. a) It is strictly limited run production and b) It hasn't sold well at all. But, here it was.
Technology gibberish about the Air-shield aside, I like it. Looked like a Hot Wheels design but I liked it for its purposefulness.







Next up was the elegant 1957 Mercedes 300 SL convertible.



and soon after was a 991.2 Porsche GT3 RS with the famous 'Sau' Livery.




But what quickly caught my attention was the Ford GT Heritage edition. Simply Gorgeous.








In all this frenzied excitement, I was soon a part of Activ-Group party courtesy of which I not only got much 'Gyaan' but also free champagne. who can say no to that.

While still hopping between cars, I noticed this immaculate 1991 Defender.



But the price-tag was eye-popping. I'm sure somebody out there finds it worth it. Not me.



Anyhoo, took a break to go make some calls.

While I was out and about making my phone calls, I noticed this unique Unimog that was parked outside.
Unimog's are anyway legendary and are not a daily sight anywhere in the world. This example, however, is a Paris Dakar Participant driven by Jost Capito and his father.
The same Jost Capito that was briefly William F1 team principal. I believe he did well in the race too.

What a machine.







By the time I got back, all the cars were parked and the after party and moved on to the next zone.

Spent some 'up close' time with the Ford GT. I love the styling of this car. Amazing work by the designer Chris Svensson.







This Rolls Royce has some fame to it. Clue- Look at the Windscreen.

It was once owned by Md Ali.



I'd been meaning to step into the Bugatti stall but it was 9:30pm and it was obviously closed as was the McLaren dealership.

The Chiron and the Super Sport looked awesome.





as did this classic Bugatti.



The Brute- 650 Bhp V10 Dodge Viper ACR.

Now on to the Glass Boxes - a storage facility for cars. any kind of cars. they don't care. But the folk who park there, do care about the cars, their upkeep and about their privacy.
Goes without saying there are some cars belonging to the Rich and Famous.

to name a few - a Famous FC Bayern football player, King of Thailand, CEO of a Swiss firm, a F1 Driver and many others whose names were not revealed.









Do you notice a Black super car below the Citroen C4 rally car? Seems like another Ford GT. Couldn't see more than this. is it?



you can see a Ferrari 513 TR, a Viper, a M3 DTM Race car and a cute yellow Fiat. That cute yellow Fiat is a Fiat Seicento Sporting with Ferrari Logo's all over.
the staff were very tight lipped on who it belongs to. Rumors suggest it is owned by Michael Schumacher's family.





A bunch of Alfa's the most legendary of them is the 8C Competizione. I love the timeless styling. Pity I couldn't see the car up close. The 4th row has a Classic Rolls Royce that belongs to the King of Thailand.



This now, is a legend. It is a Benetton Ford B194 driven by Michael Schumacher.

We finally went to the car-themed restaurant aptly called Motorworld Inn before the kitchen closed.



Some of the items on the menu have reference to Cars.

• The Italian Job
• Pizza Top Gear.
• Pizza Americar

Lets see how many others you can identify



Even the Toilet door has to be on-theme.



and then, while we were walking out, we bumped into some folk from the Activ-Group with whom we were chatting earlier on. Over some Banter, we got invited to their after-party which was in the adjoining the section for the Mohr group which represents a whole host of cars and tuners such as Zenvo, Manhart, KTM, Brabus, ABT, Techart etc.

Some of these cars on Display are absolutely mental variants by Manhart, Brabus and ABT.






























After much drooling, we had to make our way out in order to make it to next day's meetings.

All-in-all: This is an awesome place worth visiting when in Munich. In fact Motorworld is present in many other cities and the cars in the Glass Boxes could be very different in each place. Best part is that it has no entry tickets and one can enter untill 10pm and exit much later. Very convenient for travelling enthusiasts.

As for me- I will certainly have more reasons to travel to Munich and will make my way to this place many times over. Hopefully I get to stay in the Hotel in the same building.

That's wonderful coverage of Motorworld @14000rpm. Seeing these cars is like being in a candy store for us.

The Motorworld in Koln is even more special. It houses the Michael Schumacher Private Collection.

It has all his race cars, helmets, race suits, trophies, lanyards you name it its there. There's also a Michael Schumacher shop.

Best of all entry is free and is a must visit for any Schumacher and motorsport fan.

I havent had the chance but my brother visited it in 2018 and his words to my on the phone from there were "This is the most amazing place I have visited in my life"

Yupp. it is actually better than Munich. I do not travel to that region ever. No business interest and has very little Touristy interest for the family.

@14000rpm Do checkout the Motorworld in Böblingen, it's closer to München and also houses many great automobiles. I'm usually there at Motorworld München every year atleast two times, season opening in April and then the season closing in October.

My son had a great time with the Slotcar Racing setup

One of our clients also hosts a Pistons and Pretzles event once every year at Motorworld Munich, an invite only event.

We had a mini T-bhp meet up in summer, tagging members @spikearrestor, @vaidhir @GTB and @dar3dev|l

Good find. There are some one-off Bertone builds as well I'm told. The choices of the rich and famous. Look closely and you can find some more rare cars. Will try to get more details next time I visit.

Aston Martin Valkyrie. This is a truly function over form car where Adrian Newey got to be the boss at the table. Just look at how Aerodynamics has the preference.
