A visit to The Dutton Garage, Melbourne, Australia | Supercars & Iconic Classic Cars

The sole purpose of this trip from Mumbai to Melbourne was to drop my sister off for her MS and a visit to the prestigious Dutton Garage wasn't even on my list.

Me being the car enthusiast in the family, the other members (my mother and sister, my father couldn't come due to work commitments) are not car persons and if I even stopped for 2 minutes on the road to click some pictures of a nice car I would be termed as a 'Time-waster', so spending 2 hours in Dutton Garage ogling at the variety of cars with my sister and mother was an accomplishment in my books!

I didn't know there was something called 'Dutton Garage' while I was there, it was a random search on the internet that led me here. On our last day (Wednesday 26/07) we had kept the day as a rest day since the next morning we had to catch our flight back to Mumbai. I was searching for something car-related that I could do on this day, came across 'Fox Classic Car Collection' in Docklands, Melbourne and decided to call them to ask about tickets. But later found out that it was open only two days a week namely, Thursday and Saturday being a private collector's collection. With us leaving on Thursday this was a bummer for me, and then luckily read about the Dutton Garage, a premium retailer of Classics, Exotic and Rare Cars, in Richmond, Melbourne.

Took the 1:05PM train from Flagstaff Garden Train station to Burnley, which reached in 12 mins, Dutton Garage was a 2 min walk from the train station.

A Cafe within a retail showroom was introduced by the Dutton family in 1991 and set the pace throughout Australia.

As soon as we entered by pushing the vault-like doors at the entrance we were welcomed by 5 Porsche 911s and a Ferrari taking centre stage.

1989 Ferrari 328 GTS Coupe

The Ferrari 328 GTB and GTS served as the successors to the Ferrari 308 GTB and GTS, while retaining much of their design. However, slight modifications were made to both the body style and engine. Notably, the engine displacement was increased to 3.2 litres. Equipped with a 3.2-litre V8 engine boasting 4-valves-per-cylinder (quattro valve) technology, this Ferrari delivered an impressive 275 horsepower to the rear wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission. Consequently, it could sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.5 seconds and achieve a top speed exceeding 260 km/h.

Among Ferrari enthusiasts, the 328 is often regarded as one of the most reliable models. Unlike some other Ferraris, most engine maintenance tasks can be completed without removing the engine from the vehicle. The production numbers reflect its popularity, with a total of 6,068 GTS (convertible) models produced, significantly outnumbering the 1,344 units of the GTB (coupe) variant.

1992 Porsche 911 964 Turbo Coupe

This 1992 Porsche 911 964 Turbo is finished in Midnight Blue paintwork with black leather interior and has travelled 35,162kms. It has a 3.3L turbo engine mated to a 5 speed manual transmission.

1993 Porsche 911 964 Turbo Coupe

The Porsche 911 Turbo 3.6 of the 964-generation drips with appeal, not only for rarity, but its fame that was amplified by its appearance in the 1995 film "Bad Boys,”. In right-hand-drive configuration where only 159 were made, it is the poster 911 Turbo. The registration plate is testimony.

Replacing the iconic 930 Turbo was no easy task for Porsche, and the initial release of the Type 964 Turbo faced challenges in production, budget, and time constraints. It came with a 3.3-litre engine from its predecessor, which disappointed enthusiasts with its underwhelming performance—315 HP.

Porsche answered the disappointment by introducing the 3.6-litre Turbo in 1993. It featured a new flat-six M64 engine based on the one found in the 911 Carrera 4, producing 360 HP. This upgraded model also boasted a lower suspension, a stronger front anti-roll bar, and big red brakes.

This 1993 Porsche 911 964 Turbo 3.6 is finished in Satin Black Metallic with black leather trim. The 18-inch three-piece Speedline Alloys with exposed alloy bolt heads, and the mirror-like paintwork perfectly complements the Turbo 3.6's sinful nature.

1994 Porsche 911 993 GT2

This 993 GT2 is presented as one of the rarest Porsches to roll off the production line. Of the 57 made, only 7 were right hand drive.

Featuring a Turbo air-cooled 3.6 litre flat six that puts out a phenomenal 430bhp at the rear wheels, coupled with a set of oversized bolt on guards, aggressive aero features and the infamous whale tail with added air scoops, this 993 GT2 is a true Porsche enthusiast's dream.

The car itself was developed as a reaction to the regulations of the FIA GT2 racing class. During the mid-90s, the racing body had placed severe limitations, if not outright bans, on the use of all wheel drive cars, leading to Porsche developing a rear wheel drive variant. Removing the all drive train resulted in significant weight losses to the car, bolstering performance.
In order to meet FIA homologation requirements, Porsche created a limited number of street legal variants, and one of those cars is here.

1998 Porsche 911 993 Turbo S

This example is finished in Jet Black paintwork with a black leather interior. This example has travelled 86,795kms.

The Porsche 993 is highly revered among enthusiasts as the ultimate 911. It holds the distinction of being the last air-cooled 911 and the final hand-built model before Porsche refined its production methods.

In 1997, Porsche introduced a limited factory-production series known as the 993 Turbo S, marking the culmination of the air-cooled 911 Turbo lineage. The Turbo S models were equipped with an array of Turbo options as standard, including the distinctive Aerokit II front and rear spoilers, unique side air ducts and front air inlets, eye-catching yellow brake calipers, and dual exhausts with Quad round tips.

These exceptional vehicles were exclusively crafted by Porsche's Exclusive Department and carried a price tag 50% higher than the regular 993 Turbo. Just 345 units were ever produced worldwide, with 26 of them built in right-hand drive configuration and a mere 15 finding their way to Australian shores.

1976 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Resto-Mod

The Carrera nameplate has a storied history, closely linked to the challenging Carrera Panamericana Road Race - a legendary event that forged motorsport legends for both manufacturers and drivers.

Today, the Carrera name graces generations of Porsches, spanning from the early 356 to the current lineup. Among its iconic models, the 911 Carrera 3.0 holds a special place in history, combining two Porsche legends into one remarkable car that enjoyed a production run of less than 12 months.

Succeeding the highly sought-after 2.7 Carrera, the 911 Carrera 3.0 merged racing technology with the mighty 3.0-litre aluminum engine found in its legendary stablemate, the Type 930 911 Turbo. This creation marked the pinnacle of the 911 lineup in the 1970s, an era where Porsche dominated world motorsport events.

The AllSport Carrera 3.0's RestoMod, resplendent in period-correct Porsche Continental Orange and having covered only 84 kms since restoration. This car bears the production number 807 out of a limited series of 3,687 Carreras ever manufactured, retaining its original left-hand drive configuration.

AllSport boasts expertise as a specialist parts supplier for classic Porsches, particularly early 911s. This vehicle features a fully rebuilt 3.0 Litre Porsche engine, with power enhanced from 200HP to over 250HP, connected to a rebuilt 915 5-speed gearbox.

Moving over to the next room, which looked like a newer building, had the Cafe, offices, many more cars and a test-drive bay on the side. The first classic car seen as soon as we entered this part of the building was the '67 Mustang GT500.

1967 Ford Mustang GT500 'Eleanor' Fastback


After first appearing in the 2000 remake of the movie ‘Gone in Sixty Seconds’, The Shelby Mustang GT500 'Eleanor' has become an icon among car enthusiasts. The origins of 'Eleanor’ can be traced back to the 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500, first designed by Carroll Shelby himself.

Fitted with a number of custom features, including a nitrous oxide system, a roll cage, modern dash and a custom body. This 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback has been transformed to become a truly outstanding tribute and turn key example of that hero car from the Hollywood blockbuster.

The exterior presents itself with the correct Pepper Grey metallic paint complemented by black metallic stripes. The brightwork is in wonderful condition with the trims, bumpers, and badges sitting flush on the straight and smooth bodywork. Its body kit is a faithful recreation, with the Shelby-style front bumper, deep side skirts, side exit exhausts, power bulge bonnet, and the twin spot lamps in the lower grille. Riding on a set of correct 17-inch ‘Eleanor’ wheels, housing disc brakes front and rear. The whole body is now sitting on Koni Adjustable Shocks.

1993 Ferrari 348 Spider

In late 1993, the 348 was revised, featuring subtle styling changes (front grille, rear chrome Cavallino and removable seat cushions) and more power, this time 312 hp and 316 hp (for Europe) from the same 3.4-litre engine, with an improved version of the Bosch Motronic 2.7 Engine Management System and a new exhaust system (single muffler).

The revised cars are called 348 GTB (252 made) and GTS (137 made) and were presented to the public as the 348 GT versions, equipped with the F119H engine (as opposed to the original F119D and US F119G). The F119H engine had an increased 10.8:1 compression ratio as compared to the F119D & F119G's 10.4:1 compression ratio, taller intake plenums, a larger intake compensation valve, fuel pressure raised from 3.4 bar to 3.8 bar, and different camshaft timing. The fuel tank was made smaller in order to reduce overall weight and provide space to improve chassis rigidity; it now held 88 L.

This convertible variant called the Spider was introduced in 1993 and was Ferrari's first series production convertible model since the Daytona Spider. Visual changes for the Spider included body coloured lower cladding pieces, a specially designed engine cover and a manual folding soft top. The rear track was increased by 50 mm compared to the 348TB. The Spider used the same engine as the 348 GT models and hence benefitted from the increased power output. A new transverse mounted gearbox with modified gear ratios was installed to ensure better acceleration times and shift response.

1964 Porsche 356SC Coupe

With its lightweight construction, rear-engine layout, and precise German engineering, the 356 provided the genetic foundation for the iconic Porsche 911 that we recognize today.

The Porsche 356 SC was the ultimate performance variant of the 356 C Generation, boasting the most potent pushrod 4-cylinder engine ever available from Porsche, with a staggering 95 HP. This represented a 15% power increase over the standard 356 C engine, thanks to a reinforced counter-weighted crankshaft, short-skirt pistons, a more aggressive camshaft configuration, and larger Solex carburetors.

The SC was primarily available as a Coupe, but a Cabriolet variant was also offered. It succeeded the Super 90 from the previous generation, serving as the flagship model for the final evolution of the Porsche 356. The SC engine was later slightly revised and used as the powerplant for the entry-level variant of the Porsche 911, the Porsche 912.

This Australian Delivered, Porsche 356 SC was delivered new to Sydney in 1964. Documented to be one of only six Porsche 356 SC delivered to Australia and one of four delivered in 1964, this ultra-rare car on Australian soil has only had two owners in the last 50 years. The last of whom a major 356 collector in Melbourne.

With matching numbers, confirmed by Porsche Australia, the car is in preserved condition. The black paintwork shows a lovely patina with the recently retrimmed interior by expert Tim Ward, in a deep red factory Porsche vinyl a handsome contrast.

1995 Ferrari F512M Coupe

The Testarossa, with its striking wedge shape and powerful flat-12 engine, epitomized the essence of a Ferrari during its era. Produced for an impressive 12-year span from 1984 to 1996, it gained significant popularity through its appearances in TV shows like Miami Vice and Sega video games. Designed by Pininfarina, this iconic sports car from Maranello became one of the most influential and successful models ever built.

Today, the Ferrari Testarossa has evolved into a highly sought-after collectible. While purist collectors favor the early 'Monospecchio' models for their untouched, original design, more ambitious drivers lean towards the 512 TR, which made its debut in 1991. However, the fastest, rarest, and most coveted version of the flat-12 legacy is the F512 M.

The F512 M marked the ultimate iteration of the Testarossa, boasting a 4.9-litre flat-12 engine positioned longitudinally in the middle of the car. With a maximum power output of 328 kW at 6,750 rpm, this engine delivered exceptional performance mated to a 5 speed manual gearbox. Only 501 vehicles were produced, including a limited run of 75 right-hand drive models.

The front end features a 456-style Ferrari-family grille, evoking a wide smile highlighted by the reshaped bumper and airdam. The unique 18-inch split-rim Speedline wheels, adorned with 35 alloy bolt heads and elegantly sculpted spokes, not only enhance the aesthetics but also aid in brake cooling.

1958 Mercedes-Benz 190SL R121 Roadster

The 1955 launch of the 190SL, cemented Mercedes Benz's reputation as the car manufacture for those who wanted elegance, build quality and a good turn of speed. Its hugely successful production ran to 25,881 cars from 1955 until 1963, mainly in left-hand drive form, with most going to the North American market. Understandably few were made in right-hand drive and according to records, the total number of cars consigned for the British market understood to be 562.

The 190 SL was conceived as a lifestyle-oriented counterpart to the striking 300SL Gullwing, thanks to the visionary Max Hoffman, a prominent luxury European car importer and Mercedes-Benz representative in the USA. .

Powered by the M121 1.9-litre Inline Four-Cylinder engine, boasting the same bore and stroke as the original six-cylinder powerplant from the 300 SL, albeit with two fewer cylinders. Equipped with twin Solex downdraft carburettors, it produces 110 horsepower, propelling the little roadster from 0 to 100 km/h in 13 seconds.

The M121 engine is paired with a fully synchronized 4-speed transmission, sending power to the rear swing axles and utilizing the same suspension systems found in the 300 SL. These components contribute to confident handling and drivability.

1954 Porsche 356 Super

This is the 4th Porsche delivered to Australia and the first car delivered under the Norman Hamilton & Co entity. The car was ordered new by Bill Wylie of the famous Wylie Munroe Shock Absorber Co.

The car held the Australian land speed record for cars under 2000cc set at Lake Eyre in 1956. The car was totally restored in the late 90s by Murray McLeod, including fitting new old stock genuine 1500 Super roller bearing crankshaft.

1966 Mercedes-Benz 230SL R113 Coupe

By 1955, Mercedes-Benz Technical Director Prof. Fritz Nallinger and his team held no illusions regarding the 190 SL's lack of performance, while the high price tag of the legendary 300 SL supercar kept it elusive for all but the most affluent buyers. Thus, Mercedes-Benz started evolving the 190 SL on a new platform, model code W127, with a fuel-injected 2.2 liter M127 inline-six engine, internally denoted as 220SL. Encouraged by positive test results, Nallinger proposed that the 220SL be placed in the Mercedes-Benz program, with production commencing in July 1957.

However, while technical difficulties kept postponing the production start of the W127, the emerging new S-Class W 112 platform introduced novel body manufacturing technology altogether. So in 1960, Nallinger eventually proposed to develop a completely new 220SL design, based on the "fintail" W 111 sedan platform with its chassis shortened by 30 cm, and technology from the W 112. This led to the W 113 platform, with an improved fuel-injected 2.3 liter M127 inline-six engine and the distinctive "pagoda" hardtop roof, designated as 230 SL.

The 230 SL made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1963, where Nallinger introduced it as follows: "It was our aim to create a very safe and fast sports car with high performance, which despite its sports characteristics, provides a very high degree of traveling comfort".

1973 Porsche 911 F T Coupe

The name Targa, meaning badge or shield, was chosen as a homage to the Targa Florio, an Italian race that exemplified Porsche's belief that power alone was not the sole determinant of victory.

Amidst the narrow, winding roads of Sicily, nestled in the mountains above Palermo, Porsche's cars showcased remarkable balance and handling, enabling them to consistently outperform their more formidable and heavier rivals, particularly Ferrari. When it came time to designate their new convertible creation, Porsche swiftly secured the registered trademark of Targa, aligning with their tradition of assigning vibrant names to their open-top vehicles.

For ardent Porsche enthusiasts, the 1973 911 holds a special place as the final year of lightweight cars before the introduction of impact bumpers. Among purists, the '2.4' model is hailed as the last authentic iteration of the 911. These models were distinguished by their enlarged engine capacity, transitioning from 2.2 litres to 2.4 litres, and an 'aero' package that featured a front valance spoiler, which reduced lift and enhanced its sporty appearance.

Alongside Porsche's resounding triumphs in the World Sportscar Championship and Steve McQueen's endorsement in the film 'Le Mans,' this generation of 911s earned a faultless reputation.

This '73 2.4-litre Targa underwent a comprehensive restoration in 2011, with meticulous attention given to every detail by renowned specialists such as Melbourne's Chequered Flag Restorations, including a complete respray. The Silver Metallic exterior accentuates the elegant contours of the F-body 911 shape. Inside, the cabin is preserved like a time capsule, which reveals re-upholstered seats in black leather with houndstooth inserts.

1989 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 Cabriolet (Turbo Look)

With the 911's future ensured, 1983 saw the launch of a replacement for the successful SC series. It was the MY 1984 911 3.2 Carrera, reviving the Carrera name for the first time since 1977. The 911 3.2 Carrera was the second iteration of the 911 series, with all subsequent models featuring new body styling with new brake, electronic and suspension technologies.

A new, higher-displacement motor, a 3.2-liter horizontally opposed flat 6 cylinder, was utilized. At the time, Porsche claimed it was 80% new. The new swept volume of 3,164 cc was achieved using the 95 mm (3.7 in) bore (from the previous SC model) combined with the 1978 Turbo 3.3 crankshaft's 74.4 mm (2.9 in) stroke. In addition, higher domed pistons increased the compression ratio from 9.8 to 10.3:1 (although only 9.5:1 for the US market). New inlet manifold and exhaust systems were fitted. The 915 transmission was carried over from the SC series for the first three model years. In 1987, the Carrera got a new five-speed gearbox sourced from Getrag, model number G50 with proven Borg-Warner synchronizers. This slightly heavier version also featured a hydraulically operated clutch.

In 1984, Porsche also introduced the M491 option. Officially called the Supersport, it was commonly known as the "Turbo-look". It was a style that resembled the Porsche 930 Turbo with wide wheel arches and the distinctive "tea tray” tail. It featured the stiffer turbo suspension and the superior turbo braking system as well as the wider turbo wheels. Sales of the Supersport were particularly strong for its first two years in the United States because the desirable 930 was not available.

2005 Porsche Carrera GT

The development of the Carrera GT can be traced back to the 911 GT1 and LMP1-98 racing cars. Due in part to the FIA and ACO rule changes in 1998, both designs had ended. Porsche at the time had planned a new Le Mans prototype for the 1999 season.

This single Porsche 911 GT1-98 Straßenversion (which I was lucky to see in the Porsche Museum, Stuttgart. The picture below is from there, clicked in 2015), was built in 1998 to homologate the all-new racing version under the new FIA regulations. The car that led Porsche to build the Carrera GT.

The Carrera GT was initially intended to use a turbocharged flat-six engine, but was later redesigned to use a new V10 engine, pushing the project back to planned completion in 2000. The V10 was a unit secretly built by Porsche for the Footwork Formula One team in 1992, but later shelved. The engine was resurrected for the Le Mans prototype.

Originally a production run of 1,500 cars was planned. However, Porsche announced in August 2005 that it would not continue production of the Carrera GT through to 2006, citing changing airbag regulations in the United States. By the end of production on 6 May 2006, more than 1,270 cars had been sold, with a total of 644 units sold in the United States and 31 units sold in Canada. In the United Kingdom, 49 units were sold.

The Carrera GT has large side inlets and air dams that help cool the large V10 engine framed by the carbon fibre rear bonnet. Fitted with Porsche's latest Carbon fibre-reinforced Silicon Carbide (C/SiC) ceramic composite braking system, the 15-inch (380 mm) SGL Carbon disc brakes are fitted inside the 19 inch front and 20 inch rear 5-spoke alloy wheels. Similar to other Porsche models, such as the 911, the GT includes an electronically operated rear wing which deploys at speeds above 113 km/h (70 mph).

2011 Aston Martin One-77

The Aston Martin One-77 is a two-door, two-seater flagship sports car built by the British car manufacturer Aston Martin. The car was first shown at the 2008 Paris Motor Show, although it remained mostly covered by a "Savile Row tailored skirt" throughout the show. It was revealed in full at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, and deliveries began in 2011.

The production of the One-77 was limited to 77 cars, although several development cars were made for engineering, testing, and marketing. One of the development cars, VIN #10711 was sent back to Aston Martin for complete refurbishment, and now is owned under NHTSA Show and Display registration in the United States, making the actual total of cars in existence to be 78.

The One-77 features a full carbon-fibre monocoque chassis, a handcrafted aluminium body, and a 7.3 L (7,312 cc) DOHC 4 valves per cylinder V12 engine with Variable Valve Timing rated at 750hp at 7,500 rpm and 750Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. Aston Martin claimed the engine to be the most powerful production naturally aspirated engine in the world when the first car was delivered. The car utilizes a 6-speed automated manual transmission from Graziano Trasmissioni and height-adjustable pushrod suspension coupled with dynamic stability control. The top speed was estimated to be 349 km/h (217 mph) but actual tests in December 2009 showed a figure of 354.067 km/h (220.007 mph), with a 0–97 km/h (60 mph) acceleration time of approximately 3.5 seconds.

The engineering and manufacturing of the carbon-fibre chassis and suspension system was contracted to Multimatic of Canada. The projected weight was 1,500 kg, but the production model weighed 1,630 kg.

2013 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG (C197 / R197), is the successor to the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren and was described by Mercedes-Benz as a spiritual successor to the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing, mainly because it was inspired by the latter. SLS stands for "Super Leicht Sport" (Super Light Sport). The SLS was the first Mercedes-Benz automobile designed and built from scratch entirely by AMG. Upon its introduction at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, the SLS AMG's 563hp M159 engine was according to AMG "the world's most powerful naturally aspirated production series engine" ever produced.

As compared to its predecessor (the Mercedes-McLaren SLR), the SLS is per Mercedes-AMG head Tobias Moers, the faster car on the track, both in the hands of normal drivers as well as race car drivers. The Mercedes-McLaren SLR came in at 1,750kgs. The SLS, however, has a curb weight of 1,619kgs when equipped with the standard wheels.

The SLS AMG Roadster is a convertible variant of the SLS AMG Coupé, with conventional doors and three-layered fabric soft top (having a magnesium, steel and aluminium construction) which opens and closes in 11 seconds, and can be operated on the move at up to 50 km/h (31 mph). The roadster's DIN kerb weight is 40kgs more than the SLS AMG Coupé. Certain reinforcements were made to the roadster in order to compensate for the loss of roof which includes side skirts with greater wall thicknesses and more chambers, a dashboard cross-member is supported against the windscreen frame and centre tunnel by additional struts, a curved strut between the soft top and the tank reinforces the rear axle, a reinforcing cross-member behind the seats to support the fixed roll-over protection system.

The SLS AMG Roadster was unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt International Motor Show. This 2013 Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Roadster is finished in AMG Le Mans Red Metallic coachwork with soft White and Black Leather cabin and Embossed Stitching throughout.

2013 Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster

The Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster was announced for production on 27 December 2012. Equipped with the same V12 engine as the coupé version, Lamborghini claims that it can accelerate from 0–97 km/h in 2.9 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 349 km/h.

The removable roof consists of two carbon-fibre panels, weighing 6kgs each, which required the reinforcement of the rear pillar to compensate for the loss of structural integrity as well as to accommodate the rollover protection and ventilation systems for the engine. The panels are removable and are stored in the front luggage compartment. The Aventador Roadster has a unique engine cover design and an attachable wind deflector to improve cabin airflow at super high speeds as well as a gloss black finish on the A-pillars, windshield header, roof panels, and rear window area.

2021 Ferrari F8 Spider

Designed by the Ferrari Styling Centre, the F8 Tributo & Spider pay homage to the company's classic two-seater V8 supercar recipe while also representing a bridge to their design language for the cars today.

The car's name is a tribute to its uncompromising layout and V8 engine, which in this guise has a power output of 185hp/L with 720hp from a 3.9-litre V8 which are record breaking figures for a V8 engine of the time.

Ferrari spent years perfecting the architecture of their ‘junior’ mid-engine Ferrari, with every detail on the F8 perfected. The F8’s aero package is based on the track-derived 488 Pista with several features designed to manage engine heat. For example, the front radiators are angled rearward, and the engine air intakes are located on either side of the spoiler rather than the rear flanks.

The front of the car features the S-Duct, a design that debuted on the 488 Pista but has been modified to suit the F8 extensive changes. The S-Duct contributes to an impressive 15% increase in overall downforce compared to the 488 GTB. The more compact, horizontal LED headlights allow for new brake cooling intakes, improving airflow throughout the wheel arch and avoiding the need to increase the brake system size for the car's greater speed.

2018 Lexus LC500 Coupe

Four years after the concept's debut, the production model, dubbed LC 500, was introduced in January 2016 at the same venue. It shares the same 5.0-litre 2UR-GSE V8 engine with the RC-F and GS-F with power slightly increased to 471hp. It is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. The LC is built at Toyota's Motomachi facility, the same plant that produced the LFA. The factory was reconfigured for LC production, which included finishing the entire facility's interior in white. Many of the "Takumi" master craftsmen who built the LFA continue their work on different areas of the LC, including carbon-fibre parts, leatherwork and paint. Series production commenced in March 2017, with the first example completed on April 23, 2017.

The LC is the first vehicle to use Lexus' front-engine, rear-wheel drive platform, dubbed "Global Architecture – Luxury" (GA-L). It consists of various materials, including high-strength steel, aluminium, and carbon-fibre. The GA-L platform would underpin future rear-wheel drive models, including the LS 500, which was introduced in January 2017. The platform is designed to provide lower overall mass, improved front/rear weight distribution, and a low center of gravity. Run-flat tires are also used to avoid the need for a spare, and the vehicle battery has been relocated to the trunk to improve weight distribution.

The suspension is a double-joint multi-link suspension with a forged aluminium upper arm is secured at two points, which ensures all movements are mirrored from the lower arm. The double-joint design reduces the necessary height of the suspension system, as placement is lower than a traditional single-joint setup.

The McLaren 675LT is a lightweight, track-focused evolution of the McLaren 650S. It was announced in February 2015 and introduced at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. McLaren only made 500 675LT Coupe (without counting the special editions such as the MSO HS).

2020 Porsche 911 992 Carrera S

After nearly six decades since Porsche introduced the original 911, the latest 992 generation still retains its unmistakable 911 identity. While some may perceive Porsche's designers as lacking innovation, it is a true testament to the skill of the engineers and designers who seamlessly integrate modern technology, enhance aerodynamics, and meet rigorous safety standards while preserving the car's timeless formula.

In the past, the Carrera 'S' designation denoted an augmentation in engine displacement. However, with the advent of the 991.2, the focus has shifted towards maximizing turbocharger boost pressure.

This particular example is painted in Deep Gential Blue Metallic. The car features the Twin-Turbocharged 3.0L Flat-6 producing 331kW/530Nm mated to a 8 speed PDK transmission and sits on 20 and 21 inch Carrera exclusive design alloy wheels, featuring a 5 spoke design with a gloss black inserts.

2019 Pagani Huayra Tempesta

The Pagani Huayra (Italian pronunciation: waira) is a mid-engine sports car produced by Italian sports car manufacturer Pagani, succeeding the company's previous offering, the Zonda. It is named after Wayra Tata, the Quechua (aboriginal South American) wind god. The Huayra was named "The Hypercar of the Year 2012" by Top Gear magazine.

The Pagani Huayra uses a seven-speed sequential gearbox and a single disc clutch. The choice not to use a dual-clutch was due to the increase in weight of over 70 kg, thus negating any advantage of the faster gear changes in a double-clutch transmission. As a result, the transmission weighs 96 kg.

The car is equipped with Brembo brake calipers, rotors and pads. The calipers have four pistons in front and four in the rear. The rotors are drilled carbon ceramic, 380 mm in diameter and 34 mm thick.

The Huayra uses a 6.0 L (5,980 cc) twin-turbocharged M158 60° V12 engine developed by Mercedes-AMG specially for the Huayra, which has a power output of 740 PS (544 kW; 730 hp) at 5,800 rpm and 1,000 N⋅m (738 lbf⋅ft) of torque at 2,250-4,500 rpm. The engine has been designed at the request of Pagani to reduce turbo lag and improve response, achieved with smaller turbochargers, a different intercooler configuration and re-programmed ECU settings.

Like many high-performance cars, the Huayra uses dry sump lubrication. This has several key benefits including guaranteeing oil flow even when the car is subjected to extreme lateral acceleration, preventing "oil surge" which allows the engine to operate more efficiently while the lack of an oil pan allows mounting the engine lower, lowering the car's center of gravity and improving handling.

This particular example has the Paccheto Tempesta body-kit and is 1 of the 19 RHD Coupes made.

2019 Porsche 911 991.2 GT3 RS

Porsche's RS (RennSport, meaning 'racing sport' in English) lineage traces back to the iconic Carrera RS 2.7 of 1973. This remarkable vehicle, with its lightweight construction and race-bred engine, set the stage for future Porsche models bearing the esteemed RS badge.

Its performance capabilities were truly astounding for its time, boasting a 0-100km/h acceleration in just 5.6 seconds, reaching 100mph in 12.8 seconds, and achieving a top speed of 150mph. Visually, RS models were distinguished by a subtle ducktail spoiler on the rear deck and a lower, more aggressive front splitter.

While several models have since embraced the RS moniker, it was the 2003 996 GT3 RS that revitalized the name in the modern era. Derived from the 996 GT3, the RS variant featured an enhanced 381bhp version of the renowned 'Mezger' racing engine. Originally developed for Porsche's 1996 GT1 racing models, this water-cooled flat-six powerplant has achieved legendary status within Porsche circles, particularly due to its inclusion in GT3 models.

Since then, Porsche has introduced no less than six iterations of RS models, each inspiring, delighting, and at times, terrifying enthusiasts. These vehicles have consistently dominated various levels of motorsport, leaving an indelible mark on both road and track, often securing the coveted top spot on the podium.

This 2019 Porsche 911 911.2 GT3 RS, was delivered new to Porsche Centre Perth Finished in Black with Black and Green Clubsport interior.

The 4.0-litre engine shared with its GT3 sibling undergoes tuning to deliver an impressive 514 horsepower in the GT3 RS. As a nod to track enthusiasts who prioritise fast lap times, the only available transmission option is the PDK. This choice reflects a preference for speed over the tactile engagement of a manual gearbox. The RS model surpasses its counterparts in terms of weight reduction, speed, and power, clocking in at an impressive 3.0 seconds for the zero-to-100km/h sprint and boasting a top speed of 312km/h.

To enhance its lightweight construction, the GT3 RS incorporates carbon-fibre for the front hood and fenders, while the roof is made from magnesium. Drawing inspiration from the more aggressive 991.2 GT2 RS, the aero kit features key elements such as NACA ducts on the hood and a prominent front splitter. Alongside the customary suspension modifications specific to the RS variant, new helper springs have been implemented at both the front and rear, complemented by upgraded ball joints.

2018 Aston Martin DB11

The Aston Martin DB11 produced by British marque Aston Martin from 2016 to 2023 is a grand tourer, and debuted at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016 as a replacement to the DB9. It is the first model launched in Aston Martin's 'second century' plan and the company's tie-up with Daimler AG. Its replacement, the DB12, was announced in May 2023.

Motoring journalist Jeremy Clarkson at the media drive quoted: "If you're ever in Paris, at a party at 3 am, and suddenly remember you are playing in a tennis tournament in Monte Carlo the next afternoon, this is the car for the job. You'd arrive feeling like you'd just got out of the bath. It's not just a pretty face. This is an extremely good car. Phenomenally good. But there is a price to pay."

The initial V12 model was joined by an entry-level V8 version in the summer of 2017. Powered by a 4.0-litre Mercedes-Benz M177 twin-turbocharged V8 engine developed by Mercedes-AMG, resulted in a 115 kg weight reduction over the V12 variant and a total kerb weight of 1,760 kg with 49/51 front/rear weight distribution, in contrast to the DB11 V12's 51/49. The V8 engine has a power output of 503 hp and 675 Nm of torque. The car accelerates to 100 km/h in 4 seconds and has a top speed of 301 km/h. In July 2021, Aston Martin announced an upgrade for the DB11 V8. Power output has increased to 528 hp, and the car has a higher top speed of 309 km/h.

2020 Bentley Continental GT

The Bentley Continental GT is a grand-tourer manufactured and marketed by British automaker Bentley Motors since 2003. It was the first car released by Bentley under Volkswagen AG management, after the company's acquisition in 1998, and the first Bentley to employ mass production manufacturing techniques.

The press release announcing a third-generation Continental GT was made on 29 August 2017. The model made its physical debut when it was unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, where it drew a huge crowd. In January 2019, Bentley announced it would celebrate its 100th birthday with a limited-edition car, based on the Continental GT.

The model shares the Volkswagen-developed MSB platform with the second-generation Porsche Panamera. Compared to previous models, the car features a lighter body (>80 kg), an extended wheelbase (135 mm), a 48-volt roll-control system and a new 6.0-litre W12 TSI engine, as well as a significant interior overhaul including an industry first rotating display. The Continental GT is the first production car ever to have an entire body side made from the Super Formed process; a precision technique with aluminium which allows more complex, sharply defined body lines. Unlike prior models, the panels are "superformed" with heated aluminium sheets molded by gas instead of a stamp. Manufacturer's figures indicate a 3.7 seconds 0–100 km/h figure and it is capable of reaching a top speed of 333 km/h. The W12 engine – designed, developed, and hand-built in Crewe – is a further enhanced version of the TSI engine launched in the Bentayga in 2016. Featuring high- and low- pressure direct fuel injection, a variable displacement system, stop-start technology and launch mode, the powertrain produces 626 hp and 900 Nm of torque.

2014 Rolls-Royce Wraith

The Rolls-Royce Wraith was built in order to replace the earlier 2-door car model, the Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupé, built on the basis of the Rolls-Royce Ghost, unlike the earlier model which was based on the 7th Generation Rolls-Royce Phantom, the flagship car model of Rolls-Royce Motor cars until the arrival of the 8th Generation.

The body style is a two-door pillar-less coupe with suicide doors, where all side windows can roll down like in a convertible. This body style was popular in American cars during the 1950s and 1960s, and was known as the hardtop body style, not used by Rolls-Royce since 1955.

The standard Wraith has a 6.6L, turbo-charged V12 engine which delivers 623 hp and 800Nm. The car accelerates from 0 to 97 kmph in 4.4 seconds. The car has the ability to reach a top speed of 250 km/h making it the fastest accelerating Rolls-Royce ever produced.

This particular example is finished in a dual-tone Black with Silver exterior with a black interior.

2014 Porsche 911 991.1 Turbo

The Porsche 991 is the internal designation for the seventh generation of the Porsche 911, which was unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show on 15 September as the replacement for the 997. The 991 was an entirely new platform, only the third since the original 911 launched in 1963 (the 996 of 1999 was the second new platform). Production of the 991 generation ended on December 20, 2019, with 233,540 units produced.

Compared to the 997, the 991 is slightly larger, with the wheelbase increased by 100 mm to 2,450 mm, and the overall length up by 70 mm to 4,490 mm. A new transaxle was developed so that the rear wheels could be moved 76 mm backward in relation to the position of the engine, which significantly improves the weight distribution and cornering performance of the car.

Due to the use of high-strength steel, aluminium and some composites, the weight was reduced to 1,380 kg for the manual Carrera, rising to 1,605 kg for the all wheel drive Turbo model if equipped with the PDK transmission (Porsche Doppelkupplung). PDK is available as an option for all 911 Carrera and 911 Turbo (991.1 Non S) models as a 7-speed transmission, featuring manual and automatic modes. Gears 1 to 6 have a sports ratio and top speed is reached in 6th gear. 7th gear has a long ratio and helps to reduce fuel consumption by keeping engine revs low.\ For all 991 models, the PDK is produced by ZF Friedrichshafen.

This particular example is finished in Jet Black for the exterior with a Black Leather interior to complement the same.

2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 W463

The G-class was developed as a military vehicle from a suggestion by the King of Iran Mohammad Reza Shah to Mercedes and was later offered as a civilian vehicle in 1979. In this military role the vehicle was sometimes referred to as the "Wolf". The Peugeot P4 was a variant made under license in France with a Peugeot engine. The first military in the world to use it was the Argentine Army (Ejército Argentino) beginning in 1981 with the military model 461, at least one of these was captured in the Falklands and subsequently served with the Royal Air Force.

The development of the G-Class started in 1972 with a cooperative agreement between Daimler-Benz and Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Graz, Austria. Mercedes-Benz engineers in Stuttgart were in charge of design and testing, while the team in Graz developed the production plans.

Mercedes-AMG unveiled the new G 63 in March 2018 at the Geneva International Motor Show. The model is powered by the V8 twin-turbo M177 engine, producing 577hp and 850Nm of torque, an increase of 14hp and 90Nm over the previous generation G 63 AMG. Mercedes-AMG claims a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 149 mph with the optional Driver's Package. The G 63 now defaults to a rear-biased 40:60 torque split versus the 50:50 split of its predecessor.

In addition to the performance increases over the standard G 550 with the AMG model, the G 63 also features AMG-developed suspension, larger red brake calipers and perforated brake discs, AMG-specific transmission modes, radiator grille, flared wheel arches, striking side pipes on the exhaust system, and wider wheels up to 22-inches in diameter. The model features distinct front and rear fascia and body styling, as well as an AMG-specific interior with a standard AMG Performance steering wheel with flattened bottom.

This particular example is finished in Manufaktur Night Black Magno with a Black Leather interior to complement it, courtesy the AMG Night Pack on this car.

WHEN THE HEART WANTS MORE


After ogling at the massive collection at Dutton Garage for 2 hours, my sister and mother had enough of my 'time-wasting,' but I wasn't done . I took them along for another hour of car gazing. The beauty of this place (Richmond as it's named) in Melbourne was that right behind Dutton Garage, all Ultra-Premium Manufacturers have their dealerships lined up in a row, now who will want to miss that .

This was a once-in-a-blue-moon experience that I got to witness so many Classic, Exotic and Super-cars all in a span of three hours, which would've normally taken a lifetime for me to see. Words can't describe how I returned back to the hotel, I was grinning all the way back would be an understatement...

Hopefully this experience acts like a Catalyzer for --> "Yes, one day I will have atleast one of these cars in my Garage!"

The staff at Dutton Garage didn't question anyone entering. Anyone and Everyone is welcome and can stay for as long as they like, but entering any car w/o permission is prohibited since they have to sell those cars. The same stood for the Lamborghini Dealership as well, where once I told the Receptionist that, "I was here to take some pictures with & of their cars," she was more than happy to grant me permission for the same. In contrast, at the Ferrari Showroom in BKC Mumbai, I was almost literally shooed away by the security guard.

The Cafe at Dutton Garage where we had our lunch was naturally quite expensive and so-so, but hey who am I to complain looking at their collection of cars. Even if I didn't eat lunch that day I'm sure my stomach wouldn't have minded it!

You’re right about the Fox Collection which is also pretty nice and which Ive visited more than a decade ago. But this Dutton Garage is really something else. Richmond in Melbourne is truly a great place for any ‘car guy’.

So true. In my experience the dealerships are welcoming here. This includes getting test drives or casual browsing. They don't make a big song and dance about it. In return, the people treat the cars with care as well. I haven't seen people do silly things like leaning on the car to pose for a pictures. I cringed when I saw pictures of how some people treated cars at a car event in Mumbai. So yeah, the respect is mutual.

The Ferrari showroom here even gave stickers to my nephew when I took him on a car showrooms tour during his visit. He certainly appreciated the welcoming treatment at the different showrooms.

Thank you for this! Excellent pictures and I'm sure it was a hell of an experience seeing those cars in the flesh! Man, that Porsche 911 Turbo S in yellow is an absolute looker. There's something about Porsche that evokes deep feelings of admiration and respect. As if this was something crafted for a bit more than just the desire to go fast.

Thanks for sharing this. Beautiful collection. Had heard of Dutton Garage a couple of times, but never had the opportunity to go and visit - considering that it is a 20-minute drive from where our daughter lives. Your thread would motivate me to visit them the next time I'm in the vicinity.

I am planning for a long time to visit the dutton garage and enjoy my breakfast while seeing these exotic cars, as they have collaborated with a cafe now (which only offers breakfast). Pretty much sure that dutton garage is the best car collection in Victoria or might be in Australia.
