For those who dont know, this is Mitsubishi's Hilux equivalent product.

Triton will be equipped with a 4N16 Diesel 4 Cylinder DOHC 16-valve 2.4L Common Rail Turbocharged Engine & may have Hybrid power.

No use for us to salivate over this. But looking at the engine specs, seems like the diesel engine atleast is carried over.

Wonder what happened to the plan for collab with Nissan for the next gen pickup? Even giants like VW and Ford have collabed with each other for their pickup trucks.

Does this share it's platform with the Nissan Frontier?

Unlike Toyota, which is a huge conglomerate and can afford to develop separate Tacoma and Hilux, I suspect Nissan Mitsubishi alliance does not have pockets that deep.

This same platform will surely be available for the Nissan (Navara).

BTW, Next Gen Toyota Hilux will share its platform (TNGA - F) too with the Tacoma.

The all new Mitsubishi Triton has been unveiled.

Bigger in every dimension
Punchier twin-turbo diesel
3.5-tonne towing capacity for 4x4 variants
Much-improved active safety features, including AEB and adaptive cruise control

Along with quantifiable improvement, Mitsubishi said it has paid close attention to improving the Thai-built Triton’s on-road manners and cabin comfort, all without sacrificing the HiLux, Ranger and D-Max rival’s signature go-anywhere capability.

An extremely important model for Mitsubishi, CEO Takao Kato is expecting the ute to top 200,000 annual sales in 100 markets around the world.
