Hyundai Ioniq 7 to be revealed by year-end; Spied testing ahead of unveil

According to reports, Hyundai is working on a new three-row all-electric SUV for the global market. Expected to be called the 'Ioniq 7', the large SUV is based on the Kia EV9 and uses the same e-GMP platform.

The new Hyundai Ioniq 7 will share a lot of components with its Kia cousin, while also having similar dimensions and silhouette. However, looking at the new spy images, it appears that the Ioniq 7 will have a different front and rear styling, more in line with Hyundai's latest design philosophy. The Ioniq 7 was first shown as the 'Seven Concept', although the production model will feature traditional front and passenger doors instead of the pillarless coach doors seen on the concept. Having said that, the Ioniq 7 could carry forward the lighting design, both at the front and rear.

While the interiors of the Ioniq 7 are yet to be revealed, Hyundai states that the car will feature "a new dimension of space". This is largely due to the SUV's 3,200 mm wheelbase, flat floor and tall roof. The cabin is expected to make use of sustainable materials while being packed with tech and features.

The Hyundai Ioniq 7 will most likely offer the same powertrain options as the Kia EV9. This includes either a single-motor or dual-motor version. The battery pack is expected to be around 100 kWh, allowing a max range of around 300 miles (483 km).

The new Ioniq 7, as the name suggests, will be positioned above the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6. Hyundai is expected to unveil its 3-row electric SUV sometime by the end of this year.
