Re: Toyota is developing an SUV in a segment below the Fortuner

If I am not wrong, then this new Land Cruiser FJ will be only the SUV version of the Hilux champ. Because i cant ignore how the bumper and headlights of both these are so similar.

- This suggests that the LandCruiser FJ will use the same Toyota iMV ladder-frame underpinnings as the Champ, albeit with a four-wheel-drive transfer case as opposed to the Champ’s rear-drive platform.
Presence of the 2.7l petrol lump can't be taken as evidence of it being on the IMV platform. The new Prado based on the TNGA-F platform also has the 2.7l petrol. With the new 2.4l turbo taking the place of the old 4.0l V6, expect the 2.7l to become the all rounder in the lower segment of Toyota BoFs.

Though expect it to be based on the IMV platform if they are aggressive on the pricing. Wonder where the Project 500D junior Fortuner will be placed then.

The Land Cruiser FJ, the smallest in the family, could appear in 2025.

The long-awaited "Runkle Mini", which was awaited by fans who wanted the robustness of the Runkle but had given up on purchasing it due to its size, is a Land Cruiser FJ that plans to appear in 2025.

Re: Toyota is developing an SUV in a segment below the Fortuner

At 3.5 million Yen Toyota's FJ Cruiser to debut by end 2024.

The name FJ comes from the model name of the early Runkle, and some people may remember the FJ Cruiser, which gained popularity around the world as a unique derivative. This may also be Toyota's revival model. The expected price is 3.5 million to 4.5 million yen.

Re: Toyota is developing an SUV in a segment below the Fortuner

Toyota's upcoming FJ Cruiser at a starting price of ~ 3.5 million Yen?

Toyota is developing an SUV in a segment below the Fortuner-screenshot-20240725-210733.png

- Toyota Land Cruiser FJ, which is scheduled to appear in December 2024

- It is a full-fledged ladder frame. It is based on the Hilux Champ sold in Thailand and ensures high durability and rough road running performance worthy of the name.

- It is powered by a 2TR-FE inline 4-cylinder engine with a 2.7-liter gasoline engine

- It is a traditional engine that is also installed in the Runkle 250, and
generates 163 ps / 25.1 kgm.

- No diesel engine option

- It measures 4,500 mm in length× 1,830 mm in width× 1,850 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,750 mm

-Although it is about the size of a taller Corolla Cross, the seating position is high, making it easy to handle and has a good view.

-Development is progressing with the aim of rolling off the production line in November but could stretch into 2025.

Must be for the Japanese market. No way they are going to let go off the chance to plonk the 2.4l / 2.8l diesels in more models.

This is what the translated text says in the website.

For some reason, there is no information that a diesel version is available, but the reason for this is unknown.

Really Excited for this. If it can be priced around 20 lakhs. The engine may not be very powerful but it is extremely reliable and with this NCR - NGT stuff and DPF, I don't even consider diesels as options. The smallish size is good for urban nuclear families. The pricing is key on this car.

Me too, but knowing Toyota, it will surely be more expensive than Hycross. Could be even above Fortuner due to the Land Cruiser tag.

20 lakhs? We know Toyota will never price it at that. Though can expect them to price it at par with ScorpioN's top variants.

Nah. The Fortuner will move even more upmarket. And by the looks of it, the mini Fortuner would be a 2 row 5 seater only. Even in the 50+ lakhs segment, people find it difficult to justify buying a 2 row SUV unless it is Ze Germans.

That is. If at all Toyota sees it fits to bless us with this model. Most likely we will be blessed with a Grand Cruiser Hyryder 7 seater instead.

Re: Toyota is developing an SUV in a segment below the Fortuner

If it'll look like this, Toyota could literally get all the juice in the 20-30 lakh Rupees market. Thats the sweet spot for this SUV.

It's got the presence, hence street cred. And looks boxy too. It's a recipe for success if priced right. Could be the cash cow to milk.

But knowing Toyota, they'd be eager to price it at par with the Fortuner, delete tons of features and enforce stupid waiting periods.

Re: Toyota is developing an SUV in a segment below the Fortuner

RIP to those who are thinking that it would be priced at 20lakhs. Knowing Toyota's greed it would be priced in the 30-40 lakh price range while the fortuner would be even more expensive.

No way it will be priced around 20 lakhs. Toyota already has Hyryder top variants at that price range. Knowing Toyota, it will be definitely in 30-40 lakh category.
