Italian supercar brand Ferrari is now said to have become the eighth most valuable car company in the world by market capitalisation.

According to reports, Ferrari, which built fewer than 14,000 cars in 2022, beat Stellantis - a conglomerate comprising 14 car companies, which produced an estimated 8 million cars last year. Some of the popular brands owned by Stellantis include Alfa Romeo, Citroen, Fiat, Jeep, Peugeot, Ram and Vauxhall, to name a few.

Apart from Stellantis, Ferrari is also ahead of Ford, Honda, General Motors and Hyundai.

Reports state that the US EV brand Tesla is rated as the most valuable car company by market capitalisation. It is followed by Toyota in second place with Porsche in third. Other companies which are positioned higher than Ferrari include Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, BMW and BYD.

Noob question - Porsche is a brand owned by Volkswagen right?

Then, how come VW as a brand is not featured in top three?

Thanks in advance.

I hope someone can find and share the list with actual figures and also show us where our Indian brands stand. As it is evidently known all team-bhpians want our homegrown brands to excel in this too.

Even if the factory racing is not performing for years, Ferrari as a brand is stronger than ever and its road division is churning out one masterpiece after another.

The answer lies in Brand Recognition. Ferrari as a company has used their brand name as effectively as possible to establish itself in sectors other than just high performance automobiles and racing.
Their recent collaborations with brands like Mont Blanc (https://www.montblanc.com/en-us/disc...errari-stilema) and their Fashion Line (https://www.instagram.com/ferraristyle/?hl=en) are methods of the same. It great seeing the brand reinvent itself while staying true to it's original ethos.
Bravo!
