Nissan is said to be working on the next-generation iteration of its Kicks SUV for the global markets. Ahead of its unveiling, the next-gen SUV has been spotted undergoing testing, albeit with heavy camouflage.



While the spy images reveal very little in terms of the SUV's design, the next-gen Nissan Kicks is expected to draw inspiration from the brand's other models, such as the Juke and X-Trail. As seen from the spy images, the new-gen Kicks SUV seems to get a flatter front fascia, with a prominent grille at the centre, flanked on either side by LED headlamps. The side profile features a sloping roofline, ending with an integrated roof spoiler. The SUV will also get a completely revamped boot lid with a new set of tail lights on either end. Front and rear bumper designs will also be new, while also featuring new alloy wheels.



The new-gen Nissan Kicks will be underpinned by the CMF-B platform, which should allow the carmaker to offer the SUV with different powertrain options. The CMF-B platform supports both hybrid and all-electric powertrains, apart from the traditional IC engines. This could mean that Nissan could introduce its e-power hybrid powertrain option on the new Kicks in certain international markets.



Nissan recently discontinued the Kicks SUV in the Indian market. Although the carmaker has confirmed to bring in new models to India, whether the new-gen Kicks makes it here is yet to be seen.

It would be better for Nissan to launch the new-generation Kicks in India, as I can't see the launch of the Qashqai or Juke anywhere soon. It would be challenging to rely only on Magnite when the competition is constantly upgrading.
