Ferrari F80, the successor to LaFerrari

Ferrari is said to be working on a new hypercar - a successor to its LaFerrari. The new hypercar will reportedly debut in 2024 and follow the lineage of the F40, F50, Enzo and LaFerrari.

A new spy video has been released online which gives us a first glimpse of the upcoming hypercar from the Italian supercar brand. The spy video showcases the new car covered completely in camouflage, although certain design elements can be seen. This includes a massive wing at the rear, large openings on the front bumper, and a ducted portion to channel air over the windshield. At the back, there are two high-mounted exhaust pipes and a massive diffuser at the bottom.

The upcoming hypercar prototype features a warning sticker, indicating it could be offered with a hybrid powertrain.

Reports suggest that Ferrari could debut the new hypercar sometime in October 2024 and plans to build 599 examples. There will also be a track-focused XX version in 2026 limited to just 30 units and a convertible version limited to 199 units, and expected to arrive in 2027.

re: Ferrari F80, the successor to LaFerrari

Say what you will about their Formula 1 operations, but you can always trust Ferrari to make a good looking cars. From the Purosangue to the SF-23 and now this.

The bold electric bolt sticks on the bonnet and doors makes it seem like there will be plenty of electrification in the drivetrain. And them burly exhausts mean that the guzzler is here to stay.

Electrification coupled with fossil fuel engines is my favorite mode of electrification at the moment. The first world has gone through a significant Prius-Leaf phase and it is now that they have a reasonable charging infrastructure. Such EVs have only now started rolling out in India in the form of City, Hyryder-Vitara and Innova Hycross.

re: Ferrari F80, the successor to LaFerrari

To be honest most of the new Ferraris (post the F40) look like minor variations of each other. They look nice I'm sure - in the same way that the new Bentley Continental looks nice. But to me they lack the character that set them apart in the 50's, 60's and 70's. In fact the last Ferrari that (once again to me, I mean) was drop dead gorgeous to look at was the original Dino 206/246, named after the founder’s son, who died unfortunately when just 24 years old, due to muscular dystrophy. It was the first road-going Ferrari with a V-6 engine instead of the ubiquitous V-12 which was a trademark till then.

re: Ferrari F80, the successor to LaFerrari

Successor to the LaFerrari has been announced, called the F80.

The name celebrates Ferrari's 80th anniversary due in 2027.
It is powered by a hybridised twin turbo 3.0L V6 derived from the two time 24h of Le Mans winner Ferrari 499P. The ICE alone produces 888hp while the rest comes from three electric motors for a total of 1183hp.
Limited to 799 units globally.

With McLaren unveiling the W1 recently, all that remains is Porsche and the Holy Trinity 2.0 is complete.

Re: Ferrari LaFerrari successor hypercar spied ahead of global debut in 2024 EDIT: Launched as the F

Something is missing. Can't say exactly what but the design doesn't shout out "Ferrari". I'm sure each of 799 units are spoken for and we'll see Ferrari loyalists go gaga. The mere mortal me can't get excited about it whenever I manage to 'spot it' in the future.

Re: Ferrari LaFerrari successor hypercar spied ahead of global debut in 2024 EDIT: Launched as the F

I was surprised enough when McLaren launched the W1, enough to wonder out loud if it was a fresh salvo in a new round of trinity HyperCars. Sure enough, this thing comes along.

First glance, it's so boxy, flat and wide. Almost brutalist. I don't mind that. It's no looker in the way the LaFerrari was but I'm fine with functional looking things. You can almost imagine it being a body kit on the 499P Le Mans hypercar.

Speaking of which, feels weird to have a Ferrari halo car with a V6 in the back but given its the two time Le Mans winning power train, can't begrudge them.

Do like the use of small motors on turbos to spool them up independent of boost pressure building up, great idea to mitigate turbo lag. Has it been done more often lately?

Chuckled at the fixed passenger seat with the boring colour way on the show car. Imagine with customer vehicles they'll allow more changes.

Very very interesting that McLaren are sticking to their guns with solely RWD (gonna be a handful I reckon), whereas Ferrari are happy to have their electric assisted AWD.

Interesting that most high end automakers are now pushing higher top end red lines for their engines. 9000 rpm used to be the preserve of your exotic configurations, V10s or V12s.

Sharing the Top Gear summary video

Will be interesting to see if Porsche indeed have their own halo car lined up. The video above raises a good point about how they'll need to rethink their EV only halo car given they're not as evocative a segment compared to ICE hypercars.

While that is some insane BHP being produced by a 3ltr V6, but still can’t get over it that its a V6 on such an important car.

The best comment I red online post the reveal

So they will make a family SUV with a V12 but their exclusive hyper car they use a V6

Agree with you in that it doesn't scream modern-day Ferrari. But, as a Hyper-car, I love it . If this is what Ferrari's future designs will be like, two thumbs up from me!

This reminds me of the design language from a 1980s Lamborghini or Vector (if anyone remembers them). It has all the customary design elements present .. the big wing, the missile launcher, the rocket thrusters and the ejector-seat friendly doors .

From beautiful cars like Ferrari 458 and 488 GTB to this, which looks like a hot wheel concept design! Recent Ferrari designs have lost the classiness which Ferrari was known for, except the Ferrari Roma. That is a BEAUTIFUL car!!

This doesn't look like a Ferrari. I wish Ferrari still made new LaFerraris, 488s for people who want a classic design

Re: Ferrari LaFerrari successor hypercar spied ahead of global debut in 2024 EDIT: Launched as the F

Design wise, the LaFerrari was a tough act to follow and it shows. The F80 is sort of like the not so beautiful F50 which came after the all time great F40. This F80 won't win any beauty pageants but since its a halo Ferrari, it will be immediately sold out and will appreciate in value.

I think Porsche should sit this one out and let the F80 & W1 battle it with the AMG One, Valkyrie etc.

Can't get over the front of the f80, especially the black part. Looked horrible on the 12Clinindri but someone not that bad here. I feel the Daytona SP3 could have been the perfect successor to the LaFerrari, both in terms of design and engine choice.

Already sold out. With a starting price of $ 4 million they have already made $ 3.19 billion + with this one model.

That is the power of brand Ferrari

That's right. The Vector is the most apt Historical reference point in design that compares to the F80.

The La Ferrari is a masterpiece in the fusion of form and function.

Well, Porsche is also getting into the hallowed halls of Ferrari with customer loyalty and willingness to put money on the brand. I'm sure Porsche will look to double down and fatten their bottom line.

I don't think any of the orders have been placed with standard spec. Each bespoke order rakes in further millions to Maranello.
