The Kia Carnival facelift has been spied for the first time at a parking spot in South Korea. The spy images showcase a heavily camouflaged Carnival MPV, suggesting significant updates to its design, both at the front and rear.

Reports suggest that the Kia Carnival facelift could borrow design inspiration from the upcoming EV9. The MPV can be seen featuring vertically-stacked headlamp units at the front, as well as a LED light bar above the front grille. While there are no images of the rear, reports state that it could also get a comprehensive update.

Apart from the design changes, the Kia Carnival facelift is also expected to get a hybrid version. The new powertrain will be borrowed from the Hyundai Santa Fe and Kia Sorento and comes in the form of a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired with an electric motor. The hybrid powertrain is expected to produce a combined output of 227 BHP and 350 Nm. It is said to power only the front wheels of the upcoming MPV.

There are no official details of the upcoming Carnival facelift, including the unveil & launch timelines.

A welcome move.

Hybrid powertrains are well accepted in their biggest market - USA. This is something the Carvinal/Sedona sorely lacked. Even here in India, hybrids will soon become a must have as the Delhi NCR market, the single biggest in India, is fairy averse to diesels now and the hybrid gauntlet has already been thrown by Toyota.

Facelift already?
Kia India needs to get it's timing right. Rumor has it that the new Carnival is due to launch in April and will be showcased in a few days at the auto expo.
Yet again Kia will launch the Carnival at a time where the global markets are getting the facelift.

As per ACI "The fourth generation Carnival was revealed globally in 2020, and is almost three years late to the Indian market. Interestingly, the third generation model was launched here only months before the global debut of the fourth-gen model."

A hybrid powertrain is a smart choice for India too considering that the Innova Hycross is also a hybrid now.

With the Innova Hycross stepping up the game at nearly the same price, the Kia Carnival needs to deliver a lot more kit for a similar price too.

These kinds of development and update mark the end of the diesel story. More likely that we will get this model in India as well (if at they launch the nextgen Carnival in India). Probably this is the reason why there is a delay of 2-3 years to launch the new Carnival in India.

Probably this hybrid powertrain will also make it to the upcoming facelift Creta/Seltos or both thereby putting the final nail in the coffin for the diesel powertrains <2L.

Carnival surely needed an updated and latest model in India. This need now becomes a pressing one with the launch of Innova Hycross closer in its price territory (40 - 45 Lacs INR). I have seen so many of Carnivals in Hyderabad, NCR and Chandigarh, proving that the car is not a failure...it is at a premium position just below the Vellfire and the Merc V Class. Innova sells on reliability and Carnival as poor man's Vellfire / V Class. I Hope Kia skips the current global variant and brings in the upcoming version to India.

Is the 4th gen carnival coming as a cbu or ckd. As this gen is bigger as well as even better kitted, it might well be close to 50 lakh on road category.

This one seems like a facelift for the sake of it. I thought the original one's design was quite matured.

1) Take Seltos taillamps and stick it.
2) Take EV9/Sorento headlights and grill and stick it.

Btw, this is 2025 model we're talking about and its still crickets about launching this in India. I guess we'll have to make it with Carens then?

At least the internals have much more of a (rumored) meaningful upgrade in terms of the hybrid powertrain. Maybe they bring that version home!

2024 Kia Carnival facelift unveiled, 3 powertrains offered including 1.6 turbo hybrid.

No output figures were revealed for the hybrid system but the petrol and diesel powerplants are likely to be carried over from the outgoing pre-facelift model.

Carnival and Staria are very popular vans in Korea. During a recent official visit to Seoul, Embassy arranged 3 Carnivals for 8 of us. We were all very impressed with the quality of cars, seating comfort in all the rows, luggage space, suspension. We were reminded that even Hyundai and Kia are bringing their average cars only to India.

Looks good. The Hycross is going to have some competition.

If they called it a new model, that would have been passable, given the extensive changes to ghe design. This one looks proper and much better than the outgoing model.

This will be priced much higher in case the India spec model carries similar features as the US one.
