Skoda has revealed the launch timelines for the next-generation Octavia, Superb and Kodiaq during an event which also saw the unveiling of the Vision 7S concept.



The replacement for the Superb and Kodiaq is expected to arrive in the second half of 2023, while the next-gen Octavia will be ready in 2024. The Vision 7S concept will inspire the design of the new Kodiaq.



All three models are likely to be offered with the current range of petrol and diesel engines. That being said, both engines will get some form of hybridization. Moreover, the Superb is also expected to get a full-electric version in the future.



As we had reported earlier, the Octavia and Superb face an uncertain future in India. Sources have told us that production of these models will end in February 2023, with sales ceasing by March 31, 2023.

VW/Skoda are fast becoming like Honda in India. When the Chinese are bringing their EVs, what stops these companies from doing the same? They want people to buy whatever they want to sell just because they have a better build quality than others. That's not how things work here. We need exciting, value for money products. It's good that companies like GM, Fiat, Ford have left India. It's a matter of time before VW/Skoda too will pack their bags.

Next-gen Skoda Kodiaq spied testing for the first time

Skoda recently announced its plans to introduce the next-generation iteration of its Kodiaq SUV in the global markets sometime in 2023. Now, ahead of its unveil, the test mule of the next-gen Skoda Kodiaq has been spied undergoing testing for the first time.



As seen in the images, the new-gen Skoda Kodiaq is still in its early stages of development. The test mule seems to be based on the current-gen Kodaiq RS body, judging by its 20-inch wheels and the red brake calipers.



The new-gen Kodiaq is expected to get a major design overhaul compared to its current version. The styling on the upcoming model will be based on Skoda's new design philosophy, previewed by the 7S Concept.



Internationally, the next-gen Skoda Kodiaq will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. Moreover, both engines are expected to get some form of hybridisation.

As if the current gen wasn't spicy enough car is a looker from all sides. Skoda is always spot on with their design and engine combos!

Hope they provide a better leg room in the 3rd row this time. Always wonder why such premium cars fall short of such silly points making it uncomfortable for the 3rd row passengers that only kids fit in the 3rd row. Mercedes GLB is another case in point. A 7 seater car one fourth the price does a much better job when it comes to 3rd row seating ~ Kia Carens.

Considering its a new gen, I am sure there will be a huge step up in the interiors with bigger screen and other tech. Not that current one is behind anyway, mainly against the competition.

If this is supposed to be a significant design overhaul, then why are only the front and end of the car covered? Shouldn't the car should be fully wrapped? Maybe they are trying a hybrid powertrain + interior update and minor external update?

Dont expect a significant design change for VAG's, mainly Skoda. The design change, even for new gen, are generally subtle - eg: different generations of Skoda Octavia or even Superb (other than the limo one). Compare that with different facelifts of say an Elantra or a Corolla.
The facelift Superb design language might be more similar to current Octavia, that's how normally Skoda follows - first Octavia come up with new gen and then Superb follows similar design lines.

Has anyone recently booked the Octavia in Bengaluru ? Are there any discounts being offered given that the current model with evo3 engine will not be manufactured or offered from Apr-2023 ? Are there any downsides if i buy the current Octavia ?I know i have posted different versions of this question in a couple of other threads as well, but when i am stretching my budget to get my dream car after so many deliberations, the new real time driving emission norms is kind of troubling me. Please share your perspectives and advise.

When I spoke with two dealers, both were clear that there is no discount or offers at this time. No cars available for immediate delivery as well and they suggested to book first and then they can look at expediting delivery, but said typically it'll take 2-3 months.

The price difference between the two variants seems pretty steep for the addl. features included with the L&K.

- The flagship of the Czech manufacturer's range is renewed by betting on a more sophisticated and elegant design, an SUV with technology and with a powerful PHEV version.

- A recreation that advances the master lines of a front in which the Skoda grille will have a new design while the headlights will be thinner.

- The shapes of the bumper will also be cleaner, but also more prominent, with a large grille at the bottom and thin vertical gills at the ends.Will also tweak the back, bringing a cleaner and more modern design.

According to reports, Skoda's 2022 global sales report confirms the launch timelines of the brand's next-generation Superb and Kodiaq models.

Reports state that the next-gen Superb and Kodiaq will be unveiled internationally sometime later this year. The sales report also suggests that the brand's Kamiq crossover and Scala hatchback are slated to get a facelift in 2023. The unveils are part of the Volkswagen Group's plans, which also include a few "other projects", along with three pure-electric models expected by 2026.



The new-generation Skoda Superb will be offered in liftback and estate body styles. The premium model will be underpinned by an updated version of VW Group's MQB platform and will be produced at the brand's facility in Bratislava, Slovakia. The Skoda Kodiaq is also expected to be unveiled sometime later this year.

Reports suggest that with the incoming Skoda Superb & Kodiaq models, its VW siblings could also be introduced at slightly different timelines. The next-gen Volkswagen Passat, which is mechanically identical to the Superb, will be unveiled after the Skoda model. The new-gen Passat, however, will be offered exclusively in an estate body style. The Volkswagen Tiguan, on the other hand, has been spied testing on multiple occasions, and as per reports, is expected to be unveiled before the new Kodiaq. All four VW-Skoda models will be powered by the same petrol and diesel engines.

In 2022, Skoda witnessed a 16.7% drop in global sales with 8,78,200 units. The Skoda Octavia was the best-selling model with 1,41,100 units of sales, followed by the Kamiq (96,300 units) and the Kodiaq (94,500 units). The only model in the brand's lineup which registered a year-on-year growth was the Enyaq with 53,700 units of sales; a 20% increase over the previous year.

Any idea on when these new models would make it to our shores ? For some of us awaiting their Kodiaq after booking last year, we don't want to end up getting one only to see the new-gen model arriving soon after.

Is it safe to assume that it would take a good 2 years from the International unveil to make it to India ?
