I guess only a top brand like BMW can do this, because they can be rest assured a customer will not try to tamper with it for fear of voiding the warranty on the entire car.

But say Maruti tries this, you will soon have lots of down the lane car detailers who will provide a jugad hack to enable these feature for a fraction of the cost.

Let us all not be taken away by what BMW is doing in S Korea. None of the BMW cars sold in India boast connected car tech. BMW silently withdrew the feature from India and no one seems to be bothered about it. So they are happily mum about whether they are even contemplating introducing it although sub 20-lakh cars now come with it.

BMW will stop hardware related subscriptions and focus only on software ones. I would be pissed if my seat had heating hardware but I had to pay monthly fees for it too.
