2023 Toyota Sequoia set for reveal next week.

Expect a lot of commonality between the new big SUV and the latest Tundra.

the carmaker issued another teaser of a new three-row SUV and officially said a new Sequoia is on the way. Yes, Toyota still makes the hulking three-row SUV, and it's spent years without any serious updates. Just like the Tundra until recently, actually.

The latest Tundra likely offers a good look at the new SUV coming, since the Sequoia shares a platform. Expect the truck's powertrains and overall design to make its way to this new model. That should mean V6 power is in, and V8 engines are out. The Tundra rocks either a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 with 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, or a hybrid option. The electrified V6 makes 437 hp and 583 lb-ft in the new Tundra.

2023 Toyota Sequoia Debuts As A 437 HP Hybrid, Body-On-Frame Full-Size SUV.

the big thing that separates the Sequoia from the Tundra is the third-row. Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear to follow in the footsteps of competitors by folding flat. This seems like a missed opportunity, but Toyota made the best of the situation by equipping the model with an exclusive sliding third-row and an adjustable cargo shelf system.

As a result, the third-row can slide 6 inches (152 mm) to either maximize legroom or cargo space. To make up for the lack of fold-flat seats, the adjustable cargo shelf system features three preset heights including one that matches the height of the rear seats when they’re folded down.

hybrid powertrain, develops an impressive output of 437 hp (326 kW / 443 PS) and 583 lb-ft (790 Nm) of torque. For those keeping score at home, that’s 56 hp (41 kW / 57 PS) and 182 lb-ft (246 Nm) more than the old 5.7-liter V8.

The good news doesn’t end there as the hybrid powertrain bests everything in the Tahoe’s engine compartment and also compares favorably to the Expedition’s 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6. In higher-end variants, that engine produces up to 440 hp (328 kW / 446 PS) and 510 lb-ft (691 Nm) of torque on premium fuel.

Fuel economy estimates weren’t released, but Toyota hinted it will be a “huge improvement” over its predecessor.

With the US no longer getting the Land Cruiser 300 series, the Sequoia looks like a good option, it’s bigger than the LC300 as well.

Had been seeing some LC300 videos and it looks like the 2nd and 3rd space has been compromised in it compared to the LC200. Sequoia offering a better interior and more space can work wonders for Toyota.

It defenitely looks better than the previous generation. The iForce Max is now making its way to more and more Toyota SUVs. The rumour is that next gen 4Runner will also get it. Wonder why they decided to keep it out of LC300 and its Lexus cousin.

The current gen Sequoia has been around for 14 years and has sold 200k units.

The 3rd gen is built on the body on frame TNGA-F platform, which is the one used by Toyota Land Cruiser 300.

As the 2nd gen, the new one will be only available in North America.

Compared to the blob that was the previous-gen sequoia, this new one looks really attractive. Dare I say, this looks even better than the LC300. Toyota is really on a roll with their new designs, all their new cars are quite attractive - the new Camry, Corolla, European Yaris, Rav-4, Tundra and now the Sequoia! I'd say that the Sequoia looks more attractive than all its competitors from GM and Ford and on par with the new Grand Cherokee L!

Now, I really hope that the LC prado will get a new revolutionary look as well, the current design dates back to 2002 though there was a generation change in between.
