Re: Next-gen Suzuki S-Cross to debut soon; to rival Hyundai Creta

May be an unpopular opinion, but i always loved the grill on the S cross, the only reason i considered it in the first place.

This face doesnt look so good, and unless the build and engine is out of the world, i would not be very interested. But, Indian junta has surprised us quite often, so... we never know...

Re: Next-gen Suzuki S-Cross to debut soon; to rival Hyundai Creta

Yes, the front seems to be inspired from XL6/XL7. I am really digging in the front fascia, now lets see what Engines are coming to India. So Diesel is not coming - its a shocker as Seltos and Creta do offer Diesel Engines.

It is unlikely that we will get All Grip or an AWD variant because the competition does not offers any and this will not be a Lifestyle Vehicle like Thar. The other point is the launch date in India, will it be delayed or how soon can they rush the vehicle.

Next-gen Suzuki S-Cross to debut soon; to rival Hyundai Creta-7-1.jpg

Considering this image, the newer model feels like a heavily reworked version of the existing S Cross. The expanse of windshield and angle, the ORVM mounting points, the location of A,B and C pillar are same. Heck even the Alloys have been carried over in some versions.

Since the platform was already compentent, I wouldn't see this as a bad thing. It was the external look, interiors and features which needed updates, and it seems that's the exact things they have done. Just like the upcoming Baleno update IMO.

- True, I was about to say in one of your earlier posts that this isn't the S-Cross but the XL but from experience I kept quiet and avoided looking like a fool again.
I have to see the new S-Cross for real but from the pics I still prefer how the older one looks, our Transformer

- True and prudent not to mess with what's working and change what isn't. Eager to see the interiors.

- IMHO after the XLification of S-Cross, Swiftization of Celerio, the Vitarisation of Baleno (the front grill at least) MSIL/Suzuki seems to be leaning towards a bolder design theme.

Personal preferences aside, I am happy that MSIL has started moving.

From the pics, the new S-Cross looks more like the upper front of the XL6 being slapped on to the existing S-Cross, and some tweaks. In these 2-D images, the existing S-Cross looks smarter, but will wait for to see it in flesh.

What I am waiting to see is - if it will be launched here, and the engine/transmission options. Diesel may not happen, but Hybrid can push it into the 15L+ bracket.

I wish Maruti would launch something like this car with the "guess who was here advt".

Would have saved them the jokes that followed after they just showed the same old S Cross.

Waiting to see when they launch here and which variants. The car seems to have enough potential to disrupt the Crossover market.

Re: Next-gen Suzuki S-Cross to debut soon; to rival Hyundai Creta

New SX4- S CROSS likely to be priced at 6.5 million HUF(Hungary) ~ ₹ 15 lakhs. (GL+ export with higher standard equipment)

- Even in the basic model there will be a lane departure warning system, blind spot monitoring, front and rear camera, and factory audio system

At Launch: ( 25th Nov.)

- Powered by a 130bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Understand that this version will only remain in production until of March-April next year

Strong Hybrid ( March 2022)

- A 1.5-liter suction gasoline engine/ electric motors, and will be able to travel 1-2 kilometers even in pure electric mode

- From Spring, Vitara is also expected to be switched to the new Full Hybrid

We can expect the strong Hybrid version in India, with a launch time frame sometime in 2023.

Head on, I find the design interesting and a lot of SUV vibes. I am confused on the rear 3/4 quarter pic - may look like the Baleno.

The one in pic also looks like sporting LED lights - got to see how much of the design / feature will the final Indian version receive.

Why is it so?

Also, Does it mean Suzuki will launch it with the same 1.5l petrol engine from the current S-Cross?

Thanks

True that. Looking further at these images, it looks like they didn't bother to increase the height, even a little bit. This had always been my grouse with S-Cross. The overall design and ergonomics makes it feel like a mid-sized hatchback rather than the claimed "SUV" IMHO.

Re: Next-gen Suzuki S-Cross to debut soon; to rival Hyundai Creta

Though the looks of the new S-Cross are plain and unoffensive, I think it looks more current and upmarket. I am liking it! In my opinion this will sell well in India if combined with multiple engine and transmission options and right pricing.

I would be very excited if they improve the ground clearance and introduce it with an electric or proper hybrid powertrain. The S-Cross is a very sorted car and a good platform as is.

Re: Next-gen Suzuki S-Cross to debut soon; to rival Hyundai Creta

This S Cross iteration looks very clean, contemporary and European! The XL6 dna isn't bad either. As Leoshashi mentioned, this seems to be a heavily reworked design based on the previous Tect Body platform which saw the Brezza getting a good NCAP score.
Would definitely be a contender to replace my Swift if it comes with the Booster Jet 1.4. Hope the Strong Hybrid 1.5 too comes with better tuned power and torque figures. (The existing engine with its figures is extremely competent too!)

The current system in EU is with the 48-volt mild-hybrid system and will continue to be for some more time till the full hybrid version kicks in due to emission norms and to lower CO2 emissions.

It is not yet clear whether both powertrains will be on offer.

Will know by Nov 25th, but India is likely to get the strong HYBRID version in 2023, as per the prioritization plan of its portfolio.

Re: Next-gen Suzuki S-Cross to debut soon; to rival Hyundai Creta

Contrary to the reports , it looks like a heavily redesigned version of current gen 7 year old scross. Just like Aria/Hexa, which is good in a sense as it will stay away from the notorious heartect construction, and will be spacious, safer and will deliver decent dynamics of the current gen.

The facelift looks good, far better than the ugly face of current gen. Front reminds me of XL6, bit of Toyota Highlander and the corolla cross. Rear reminds me of VW taigun too.

Suzuki has pulled it off smartly with reworked front bumpers, fenders, hood, lights, rear quarter glass, boot and lights. Interior needs a thorough overhaul though to stand against the Koreans and the germans.

Facelift may work for Scross, but Brezza and Baleno needs to be brand new models rather than mere facelifts.
