Land Rover is said to be working on a more powerful version of its Defender V8 SUV. According to a media report, Land Rover will introduce an 'SVR' version of both its Defender 110 and Defender 90 models.



Details of the upcoming Land Rover Defender SVR are still scarce. Reports though suggest that the upcoming SUV will feature sportier design elements, compared to the standard V8-powered model. This includes quad-exhaust pipes and 22-inch alloy wheels with 15-inch discs - helping it differentiate from the standard V8-powered model.

The Defender SVR is also expected to come with a revised suspension setup with larger roll bars to reduce body roll, torque vectoring and a unique electronic active rear differential.



The main update though is said to be on the powertrain front. According to reports, the upcoming Land Rover Defender SVR could receive a BMW-sourced 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 unit, replacing the 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine from its regular model.

This engine on the SVR model is said to produce over 600 BHP - a significant increase from 518 BHP on the standard Defender V8 model. With the BMW-sourced engine, the Defender 90 SVR is expected to be capable of accelerating from 0 - 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 240 km/h.



Prices for the Land Rover Defender 90 SVR is expected to be in the starting range of US$ 125,000, while the 110 SVR model could be priced at over US$ 130,000. Exact prices though will be announced at the time of its market arrivals sometime next year.
