“This is the first pillar of Reimagine, our transformation plan,” said Bolloré. “Our results have been unacceptable, but we know how to fix them. It’s not science, just hard work. Already the 2021 results are better, but we have more to do.”

“We’re improving processes to get better quality by design,” said Bolloré.

Jaguar Land Rover promises to resolve its reliability & quality issues once and for all

Jaguar Land Rover products have been plagued with reliability and quality issues for a while now. However, this is said to change very soon. According to a media report, Thierry Bollore, the company's new CEO, has promised to crack down on the brand's reliability issues and put an end to it once and for all.

Bollore introduced the 'Reimagine' plan recently, aimed at rebuilding the business and turning around the fortunes of the company. As part of this plan, JLR will be working on resolving the quality issues as first priority. Bollore stated that a lot of progress has already been made, but "there is more work to do".

Reports also suggest that Bollore is said to be overhauling the entire way JLR develops its models. The process will make use of more technologies that improve the quality of the components.

The CEO has also hired Nigel Blenkinsop as an executive director of company quality & customer satisfaction - a new board position. Blenkinsop will report directly to Bollore and is said to be responsible for the whole value chain process, which is expected to make a significant difference.

Jaguar Land Rover had recently announced its plans to move up a segment and introduce a new product lineup, rivalling luxury brands such as Bentley and Porsche. Fixing the quality and reliability issues seems to be the first step in that direction.

If Mr. Nigel indeed succeeds in fixing Jaguar-LR's reliability issues, he should be immediately deputed to Tata Motors India.

He can really 'prove' himself, by fixing the reliability issues in Harrier/Safari.

Brave (but probably stupid) decision by the CEO to make such an announcement. Because, if a prospective JLR customer reads this, it's unlikely he will go ahead with the purchase now.

Especially if he has not heard about JLR's reliability issues (or if he heard about it online, but brushed it off as hearsay). To such a prospective customer, this statement from CEO is confirmation that current crop of JLR products has serious issues.

Agree and its really no different from Tobias Moers saying that all the current Aston Martins are "OK".

He could have put it in a different way so that potential customers would be more interested to own a JLR vehicle. Saying that he'll fix quality and reliability issues now, makes bad impression for existing JLR owners and many potential owners as well ! Mr Bollore you could have said this in the monthly team meet instead ! Meanwhile Tata Motors could also learn something from this.

The first step towards solving a problem is acknowledging that there is one.

It takes courage to come to a public platform and accept that a wrong has been done and needs to be corrected.

It also goes on to show that the person in charge is confident and transparent. Such a statement from the very top also works as a memo for the entire workforce that one is serious about bringing a change.

Finally, to the general consumer too, it shows that the brand is concerned about the issues it faces and is making changes to prevent such issues in the future.

He like any CEO could have stuck with statements like "we make world-class vehicles and strive for customer satisfaction." And business would go on as usual but he chose not to, which I feel should be appreciated.

Finally, if a prospective customer is not aware of the existence of reliability issues with JLR, misses out on many reliability surveys which find JLR at the very bottom, regards them as hearsay. He might very well miss out on this statement in his opulent indulgence of ignorance.

Personally, it would make it more likely for me to recommend a JLR product to someone or consider one myself in the future just because the brand chose to be transparent and promised to make an effort to improve instead of just following don't see bad, don't hear bad, don't speak bad.

Re: Jaguar Land Rover promises to resolve its reliability & quality issues once and for all

With electric technology on the horizon most of the issues currently faced are set to disappear anyway. No more gearbox issues or engine problems. From such a perspective, yes one can expect more reliable products. Another reason for such a statement must be to support their strategy of competing with brands like Bentley which was announced a few weeks back. Anyways, in the end it is good of them to take reliability as a point of focus.
