First, they have confirmed that it will use an evolution of the modular platform that Volvo is currently using in its models called SPA.



The XC90 will be called SPA2 and we will see it on all the models that already showed us when they announced the C40 Recharge.



The new generation has been developed under the internal code V536 and its mechanical range will be divided into:

Mild Hybrid
PHEV
100% EV

If we talk about EV, important considering that there are some indications are that it will have a capacity of 100 kWh and that it will be configured with two engines, one behind and one in front that will give you 197 hp each and up to 800 Nm of torque. Although it will go from 0 to 100 'as a sports car' it is already known that at most it will reach 180 kilometers an hour as it will be limited like all volvos that leave the factory today.

Speaking of factories, this XC90 will leave the Charleston factory in South Carolina. Knowing this they have also confirmed that the PHEV and Mild hybrid will arrive in 2022 while the EV until 2023 comes at all.

A stunning SUV - Volvo Concept Recharge Previews the next generation XC90's, 100% electric replacement.

A strategic plan with which it hopes to complete its ambitious goal of becoming a premium and 100% electric brand by 2030. One of the most relevant novelties that have been announced at this event has been the new Volvo Concept Recharge.

This is a conceptual model to which we must pay close attention for two main reasons. On the one hand it marks the line and/or direction that Volvo's future electric cars will follow and, on the other hand, it gives a glimpse of the long-awaited 100% electric replacement of the current Volvo XC90. A very luxurious and electric SUV is looming as a flagship of this era in which the Swedish manufacturer is entering.

Volvo's first electric to debut this new architecture is the aforementioned replacement for the XC90. A model that is currently in development and that advances us the Volvo Concept Recharge as has been said previously. The use of the dedicated platform has allowed Volvo engineers to increase the wheelbase to accommodate a larger battery.
