Re: Rumour: Skoda Kodiaq to get 1.5L petrol engine option

Skoda has really upped their game with the new design elements. The new platform, great engine and updated DSG make their cars all the more desirable.
Just hope the ASS get better at offering long term peace of mind, and very soon we might just see more of these beauties on the road than the Kias / Hyundais of the world.

Going by earlier trim levels, the base will be feature loaded in terms of safety, gizmos etc. I think features like ventilated seats, 360 camera might be in L&K. Not sure how much of the radar based assistive features will come to India.

The car also comes with a 10.25-inch virtual cockpit, a 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment head-unit with connected car technology, LED ambient lighting and a multifunction two-spoke steering wheel among other features. The 2021 Kodiaq also comes with 2 additional speakers position on the front doors. The dashboard on the facelift SUV though has been carried forward from the previous model. However, it does comes with contrast stitching, along with new textures and patterns giving it a more premium appeal.

Car surely looks solid, but these are not major changes. Only few minor changes that correspond to the usual mid life facelifts. Also it will be in Petrol only awatar and not with more expensive diesel variant.

In that case, should we assume the pricing to be more or less same or in-fact lower than earlier model sold in India?

Re: 2021 Skoda Kodiaq facelift unveiled

I genuinely can't tell whether or not I like this facelift over the old version. Whilst I always thought the Kodiaq was marginally better looking than the Tiguan AllSpace, with the new facelifts for both the vehicles, I'm torn between which model looks better. The new face-lift isn't offensive for sure, The slight tweaks however do not make much change imo, although it is very conflicting as I both like and dislike aspects of the new look. One thing is for certain though, the new 2 spoke S-Class replica steering wheel is completely out of place in a Kodiaq, whilst it would make some sense in a Superb or Octavia being borderline luxury sedans, I feel it dampens the appeal of the Kodiaq ever so slightly.

Nonetheless, attaching photos of the Tiguan Allspace facelift side by side along with the pre-facelift kodiaq. Will be interesting to see what other BHPians reckon.

Re: 2021 Skoda Kodiaq facelift unveiled

Looks are personal opinions but I like Kodiaq hands-down over Tiguan especially the rear and the interiors. I think the Kodiaq interiors are much more premium and better looking than Tiguan.

I did not like the two spoke steering wheel (looks like missing an tooth) until I saw it in person on Superb. It does not look bad or out of place at all.

Skoda worldwide has updated their website with the new Kodiaq. The kit and safety features are very impressive -

Re: 2021 Skoda Kodiaq facelift unveiled

Front (especially the grill) will take some time to get used to. But, in comparison, I certainly like the rear. I never liked the rear view of the old kodiaq. Overall, I felt it's a step forward

Hope they will get all color options and will price it well. With only petrol in offer, I hope the price will be less than before even if it's not by a large margin

That blue RS 243bhp, looks wicked, would they even considering this version for India, if the Octavia RS was 40 plus ex showroom, this one would surely breach the 65 mark in my opinion.

Re: 2021 Skoda Kodiaq facelift unveiled

I like the old kodiaq more than the face lifted one. that said, new version is also nice. Especially , the matrix headlights which also means its going to be costlier than the old one. There was nothing more to do with design in my opinion. They just had to do something with it since its been 4-5 years it was launched first.

With stories of Octavia RS not selling as expected leading to discounts etc, I don't think they would even think of bringing kodiaq RS

Agree with you there, a bit.
However, for me, the new Kodiaq is more assertive mature in terms of styling. The most prominent change seems to the redesign of the grill to align it with the rest of the Skoda line-up.
Whereas for Tiguan, the facelift's neither here nor there.

Completely agree. The 2 spoke is more of an executive/sedanesque design, I thought.
Plonking it in Kodiaq somehow gives a disconnected feeling.

Re: 2021 Skoda Kodiaq facelift unveiled

Must say the new Kodiaq looks really good. In general, Skodas are better looking than their VW equivalents - and in this case, at least based on pictures, even the interiors seem to be better than the Allspace. The only question that arises in my mind is whom does VW want to target with the Skoda brand? The number of customers who would buy only VW and not Skoda is probably falling by the day - and the ability to VW to command a premium price would therefore reduce. Perhaps all of this is by design - to get the German workforce agree to lower wages - or to shift a larger proportion of group sales to their Czech factories without moving VW products to an EM plant.

Re: 2021 Skoda Kodiaq facelift unveiled

I'm in 2 minds on the styling changes. The older car looked a lot cleaner with simpler lines but the newer one does look a little more upright.

In the old car the grill and bumper were raked giving it a sleeker look whereas in the newer car the grill slats and front end has been straightened up to give it a more butch stance.

The lights is where I am mixed about. The extra kink added to make them narrower near the grill I am not liking. I preferred the chunkier lights of the older car.

Tail lights are again very minor with a kink added to make them slimmer.

Overall it's a decent upgrade but sadly India will miss out on the 2.0 TDI and with the 2L TSI it will not attract as many buyers as it did before.
